India: Teens evade Taraweeh prayer whiling away time uselessly

Kanpur: What do we see when we think of extra prayers? This extra prayer during the whole month of Ramadan is offered by old, young and teens.

This 20-Rakat prayer remains additional to the five-time daily obligatory prayer.

Though adults offer Taraweeh in a mood of obligation, the teens do not show enough consideration in completing the prayer. They do not look to indicate similar respect.

The teens who attend obligatory prayers at the nearby mosque in their residential compound in Jajmau are often found sitting at a secluded corner to evade the extra prayers of Taraweeh.

They continue to sit and talk useless. Instead of giving attention to extra prayers they feel rejoice at excluding the prayers at the time.

They have developed a tendency to reach their respective homes after the end of the Taraweeh. Although all of them read moral science in their class book but do not seem to follow the teachings.

This trend by them is quite perplexing. The month of fasting teaches us to remain quick in prayers, recitation of Quranic verses, and be humble to the poor by giving fitra.

However, what prevails is different from what is preached. The teens do not want to learn proper habits during this holy month but tend to do deeds that are quite opposite to what is accurate.
