30 June 2022; MEMO: Two Palestinians drivers were run over and detained yesterday by Israeli occupation officers who hit them with their vehicle near the town of Al-Khader to the south of occupied Bethlehem, reported Wafa news agency.
Local eyewitnesses said Israeli officers hit the Palestinians, who were riding on their motorcycle. The pair, from the Dheisheh Refugee Camp, suffered severe injuries.
Following treatment at the Palestine Red Crescent Society, the two were detained by the Israeli soldiers during a night raid.
Night raids by Israeli occupation forces are a near daily practice in the occupied West Bank. Israel claims that such raids are essential for intelligence purposes, but rights groups have slammed the practice, insisting that the goal is to oppress and intimidate the Palestinian population and increase state control. Like checkpoints and the illegal Separation Wall, the raids are part of the DNA of the occupation, say critics.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967. Human rights abuses against Palestinians and breaches of international law are daily occurrences.
