Russia records 3,439 daily COVID cases

MOSCOW, January 6. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 3,439 over the past day to 21,820,552, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Friday.

A day earlier, 3,274 daily cases were recorded.

As many as 673 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 6.7% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients decreased in 38 regions, while in 30 regions the figure increased. The situation remained unchanged in 17 regions. A day earlier, 721 people were rushed to hospitals.

Russia says its forces foiled Ukrainian attack on Russian positions near Donetsk

MOSCOW, January 7. /TASS/: Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov on Saturday said Russian forces foiled an attempted attack on Russian positions by Ukraine’s 110th mechanized brigade and 79th paratrooper brigade near Donetsk.

"An attempted attack on Russian positions by Ukraine’s 110th mechanized brigade and 79th paratrooper brigade has been foiled on the Donetsk axis in the area of the settlements of Krasnogorovka and Georgiyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," he said.

Perm sub with Tsirkon hypersonic missiles to enter service with Russian Navy in 2026

MOSCOW, January 5. /TASS/: The Project 885M (Yasen-M) Perm nuclear-powered submarine, the first regular carrier of the submarine version of Tsirkon, Russia’s advanced hypersonic cruise missile, will enter service with the Russian Navy in 2026, a source close to the Russian defense ministry told TASS on Thursday.

"The Perm submarine with Tsirkons is planned to enter service with the Navy in 2026. Prior to that, the submarine will undergo trials in late 2024 or early 2025," the source said.

No official confirmation is available.

Putin, Erdogan discuss energy cooperation, situation in Ukraine over phone

MOSCOW, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the development of energy cooperation and the situation in Ukraine during a telephone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday.

The leaders discussed "issues of further expansion of trade and economic ties, primarily in the energy sector," the Kremlin said in a statement.

Russia’s hypersonic missile-armed ship to patrol global seas

Russia: Lavrov tells Israeli top diplomat about willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation

MOSCOW, January 3. /TASS/: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told new Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in their telephone conversation on Tuesday about readiness for joint work to enhance bilateral cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The minister congratulated his Israeli counterpart on taking office and expressed readiness to work together in order to strengthen multifaceted, mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Israel," the statement said.

Russian army receives advanced Ka-52M helicopters — source

MOSCOW, January 4. /TASS/: First upgraded Ka-52M strike and reconnaissance helicopters were delivered to the Russian army and supplies would continue this year, a source in the defense industry told TASS.

"The first Ka-52M [helicopters] have already been turned over to Russian troops. Deliveries of upgraded helicopters will also continue in 2023," the source said. About ten helicopters were supplied for the Russian army aviation, he noted.

The Arsenyevsky aviation plant is fully loaded with production of such helicopters, the source added.
