Iranian parliament labels entire US military as terrorist organisation

Tehran, Apr 24 (AP) Iranian lawmakers overwhelmingly approved a bill that labels all US military forces as terrorist, a day after Washington ratcheted up pressure on Tehran by announcing that no country would any longer be exempt from US sanctions if it continues to buy Iranian oil.

The bill is a step further from the one last week, when lawmakers approved labelling just US troops in the Middle East as terrorist, in response to the US terrorism designation for Iran's Revolutionary Guard earlier this month.

Iran, Pakistan agree to joint border 'reaction force'

Iran warns of "consequences" of ending U.S. sanctions waivers

TEHRAN, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday warned against any "adverse consequences" of ending the U.S. sanctions waivers on oil imports from Iran.

"Given the illegal nature of the U.S. sanctions, Iran has not and will not consider any value for the waivers granted" by the United States to some customers of the Iranian oil, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in a statement.

Iran FM visits Syria, Turkey to discuss ties

TEHRAN, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif started a trip to Syria and Turkey on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties, Tasnim news agency reported.

On the first leg of his trip, Zarif will visit Damascus, capital of Syria, for meetings with top Syrian officials, including Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem.

The two-day trip will take the Iranian foreign minister later to Turkey.

Iran launches 1st China Study Center

TEHRAN, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Allameh Tabataba'i University in Tehran established the country's first China Study Center on Sunday in cooperation with China's Shanghai International Studies University.

Behzad Shahandeh, professor of China Study from Tehran University, was invited to attend the opening ceremony.

Shahandeh paid his first visit to Beijing in 1978, which became the beginning of his academic career.

He stressed in a speech that China was the first country that did not follow the Western model of modernization.

Iran president says US 'leader of world terrorism'

Tehran, Apr 9 (AFP/PTI) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tuesday that the United States was the real "leader of world terrorism" after Washington blacklisted Iran's Revolutionary Guards as a "foreign terrorist organisation".

"Who are you to label revolutionary institutions as terrorists?" Rouhani asked in a speech broadcast live by state television.

Iran begins installation of IR6 centrifuges: report

TEHRAN, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) started the installation of IR6 centrifuges on Tuesday, official IRNA news agency reported.

The installation of a chain of 20 advanced IR6 centrifuges began in the Natanz enrichment facility in central Iran, following a decree of President Hassan Rouhani, said the report.

"We are happy to announce the installation of the IR6 centrifuges. This will be a big achievement for the Iranian nation," Rouhani was quoted as saying at a video conference.
