Pilibhit (UP), Dec 28 (PTI) A minor girl was allegedly held hostage and raped by her relative in a village here, police said on Monday.

The girl was grazing goats in the village when the relative forcibly took her to a sugarcane field and allegedly raped her after tying her with a rope on Saturday, SHO, Gajraula, Jaiprakash Singh said citing the complaint given by the father of the victim.

The girl managed to free herself and reached home, Singh said, adding that an FIR has been lodged and hunt was on to trace the culprit.

Bareilly (UP) Dec 26 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh police has offered security to two interfaith couples after two Muslim women married youths after converting to Hinduism in Bareilly district.

Both the women have claimed themselves to be adults on the basis of official documents and married youths of other community on their own accord. These incidents have nothing to do with love jihad, Bareilly's Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajvan said on Saturday.

Shahjahanpur (UP), Dec 26 (PTI) Two girls who were allegedly abducted in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district have been recovered and one of the suspects was arrested on Saturday, police said.

The girls, aged 14 and 11, went missing from Roja area on Friday afternoon and their families informed the police in the evening, Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Kumar said.

Shahjahanpur (UP), Dec 27 (PTI) A 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped here by a 25-year-old man, who was nabbed hours later, police said on Sunday.

The accused hails from the girl's village, they said.

Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Dec 27 (PTI) A second accused in the rape and murder case of an 11-year-old girl here a week ago was arrested on Sunday from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Rajeev, who had been on the run since Monday last, was arrested on the basis of clues provided by his younger brother who was taken into custody by the police for interrogation on Saturday.

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Dec 25 (PTI) A POCSO court in Uttar Pradesh's Kairana has sentenced a man to 10 years' imprisonment for raping a woman and sexually harassing her minor daughter two years ago.

Special judge Mumtaz Ali also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on accused Sachin on Thursday after holding him guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, prosecution lawyer Satyender Dhiryan said.

Hamirpur, Dec 23 (PTI) A local court here on Wednesday sentenced a man to 12-year jail and imposed a fine of Rs 21,000 in connection with the rape of a minor.

District Government Counsel Rudra Pratap Singh said the court of Judge Neeraj Kumar convicted Binu Singh (22) of the rape of a 12-year-old girl, which took place on November 5, 2017.

The government counsel said the girl was raped when she was going to a grocery shop. The girl was dragged by the accused to a cattle shed where she was raped, he said.

Ballia (UP), Dec 24 (PTI) A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, police said on Thursday.

In her complaint to the police on Wednesday, the woman alleged that the 21-year-old brother of her husband raped her two days ago when she was alone at the house, Station House Officer (SHO), Revati, Pravin Singh said.

The woman stated that the accused also threatened to kill her with a sharp-edged weapon, the SHO said, adding a case was lodged based on her complaint.

Ballia (UP), Dec 24 (PTI) A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped for three years on the promise of marriage in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, police said on Thursday.

The woman, in a complaint to police on Wednesday, said a 26-year-old man had been raping her for the past three years after promising to marry her, ASP Sanjay Yadav said on Thursday.

An FIR was lodged on the basis of the complaint and the man was arrested, the ASP said, adding the woman has been sent to district hospital for medical examination.

Ballia (UP), Dec 23 (PTI) An 18-year-old statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar was found damaged on Wednesday in Sikanderpur area of the district, police said.

The hand of the statue installed in Sikiya village park was found broken this morning, Sikandarpur SHO Balendu Bhushan Mishra said.

The statue was installed over 18 years ago, he said, adding it would be repaired.

The situation in the village is under control and a probe is on in the matter, he said.
