Lukashenko says he will not be Belarusian president under new constitution

MINSK, November 27. /TASS/: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday he will not stay in office under a new constitution.

"I am not amending the constitution for myself. I will not continue as president under a new constitution. So, relax, take it easy," BelTA news agency quoted him as saying during a meeting with medics of Minsk’s 6th city hospital.

Several dozen protesters detained in downtown Minsk

MINSK, November 15. /TASS/: Several dozen people were detained near Pushkinskaya metro station in Minsk where opposition activists are gathering to pay tribute to a Minsk citizen, Roman Bondarenko, who died on November 12, a TASS correspondent reported.

A large number of security forces and special equipment have been concentrated near the metro station. They are preventing protesters from approaching a "people’s memorial" set up on the site where another Minsk citizen Alexander Taraykovsky was killed early on August 11.

Belarus: Protest organizers had plans for asking for foreign military support, Lukashenko says

MINSK, November 7. /TASS/: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposed Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev to create a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation in Belarus, he said on Saturday visiting BelNPP.

"Alexander Lukashenko discussed the prospects for cooperation with the Russian side in the field of nuclear energy with the Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev. The presidnet proposed to create a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation in Belarus," BelTA news agency reported.

Belarus: First power unit of BelNPP reaches capacity of 400 MW - Energy Ministry

MINSK, November 7. /TASS/: The first power unit of the Belarusian NPP has reached a capacity of 400 MW, the country's energy ministry reported on Friday.

The ceremony to increase the power unit's capacity was held with the participation of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. According to Lukashenko, with the commissioning of this nuclear power plant, Belarus joins the world club of states using atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

Belarus has no gas debts to Russia - PM

MINSK, November 3. /TASS/: Belarus and Russia continue talks on natural gas pricing in 2021 and Minsk has no debts for consumed gas at present, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on Monday on the air with the Belarus-1 TV Channel.

"Settlements for consumed gas have been completed; we have no debt to the Russian Federation. We would like to negotiate in the near future the natural gas pricing for Belarus in the next year, expecting that it will be attractive for us," Golovchenko said.

Nearly 300 detained at Belarusian protests on November 1

MINSK, November 2. /TASS/: Police detained some 300 people at unauthorized rallies in Minsk and the Minsk Region on November 1, Belarusian Interior Ministry Spokesperson Olga Chemodanova said on her Telegram channel on Monday.

"Nearly 300 people were detained for violating the law on mass events in Minsk and in the Minsk Region, and administrative protocols were drawn up against them," the spokesperson said.
