Raigarh, Apr 3 (PTI) A police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping his six-year-old daughter in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, an official said Wednesday.

As per the complaint filed by the 45-year-old accused's wife, he allegedly raped the child at their home in the city on March 29 and threatened her not to disclose it to anyone, the police official said.

The girl, however, later informed about the incident to her mother who approached the police on Monday, he said.

Raipur, Apr 1 (PTI) Two Naxals, carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively on their heads, were arrested in Chhattisgarh, police said Monday.

Explosives, a firearm and banners and posters calling for a boycott of the Lok Sabha elections, were recovered from them, police said.

Rajnandgaon, Mar 19 (PTI) A woman naxal was gunned down Tuesday in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district, police said.

The skirmish took place in the forest of Gatapar police station area bordering Madhya Pradesh, when a joint team of security forces from MP and Chhattisgarh was carrying out an anti-naxal operation, a senior police official told PTI.

Raipur, Mar 18 (PTI) Six CRPF jawans were injured in an ambush by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Monday, officials said.

A team of the 231st battalion of the CRPF, along with a state police unit, was out on road security duty in the district's Aranpur area when an IED exploded and they were fired upon by Maoists, they said.

Six personnel of the CRPF were injured in the blast and firing that took place around 4:30 pm near the Kamal post of the paramilitary force in Dantewada district, a senior official said.

Raipur, Mar 16 (PTI) Two Naxals were Saturday arrested from Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.

The two were identified as Mangesh alias Hurra Majji (43) and Majji Chinna (38) and were held from Rengawaya village under Bedre police station limits, over 450 kilometres from here, an official said.

Security personnel were out on a search-cum-area domination operation in the forests of Waynar, Kodepalli and Rengawaya villages in Bedre when they received a tip-off on the presence of the two Naxals in the area, he said.

Raipur, Mar 8 (PTI) A hardcore Naxal, who was carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head, Friday surrendered before the police in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, officials said.

According to Sukma police, the Naxal, identified as Madkam Arjun, has been active in South Bastar division since the last 18 years.

Raipur, Feb 20 (PTI) Nine naxals, including a couple carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh each on their head, Wednesday surrendered before authorities in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said

The cadres, five of them carrying cash rewards on their head, turned themselves in before senior officials in Bijapur town, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg told PTI

Of them, Nagesh Kursam (30) was active as a section commander of military platoon no. 2 of Maoists. His wife (28) was also active as a section commander in military platoon no. 22, he said.

Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh), Feb 16 (PTI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi Saturday hit out at the Modi government, saying that while it waived loans worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore of select industrialists such as Anil Ambani and Vijay Mallya, it promised just Rs 3.50 per day to farmers.

Gandhi was speaking at a convention of tribals at Dhuragaon village in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.

Nabarangpur (Odisha), Feb 12 (PTI) A tribal man was killed allegedly by Maoists in Nabarangpur district on the suspicion of being a police informer, a senior police officer said Tuesday.

A group of armed ultras stormed Venas village under Raighar Block late on Monday night and forcibly took away Tunu Gond from his house accusing him of being a police informer, the officer said.

Raipur, Feb 7 (PTI) Ten Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh Thursday, police said.

The face-off took place in forests under Bhairamgarh police station area of Bijapur district when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation, state Director General of Police D M Awasthi told reporters here.
