India: Rahul should return as Congress president: Khurshid

New Delhi, Oct 12 (PTI) Rahul Gandhi is "our leader" and should return as the president of the Congress, senior party leader Salman Khurshid has said, days after he remarked that the party was not able to introspect its Lok Sabha poll debacle as "its leader had walked away" after the election.

The Congress had seemingly disapproved Khurshid's "walked away" remarks with party spokesperson Pawan Khera saying people should avoid making side comments and work towards exposing the BJP government's follies instead.

Delhi, 13 Oct 2019, (UMMn): PM Narendra Modi's niece Damayanti Ben Modi got her purse snatched Saturday by two unidentified bike-borne thieves in North Delhi's Civil Lines.

As Damayanti arrived at Civil Lines from Old Delhi Railway Station, the robbers came and snatched her purse after she got down from the auto-rickshaw, police said.

India: Women will be exempted from odd-even scheme: Delhi CM

New Delhi, Oct 12 (PTI) Women will be exempted from the odd-even road rationing scheme which is set to return in the national capital for the third time from November 4-15, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Saturday.

Unlike previous occasions, privately owned CNG vehicles will this time not be exempted, he said.

"Women driving alone, cars having all women as occupants and women accompanied by children aged less than 12 years will be exempted," he said.

India: tomato price soar to Rs 80/kg in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) After onions, retail price of tomatoes shot up to Rs 80 per kilogram in the national capital on Wednesday due to supply disruption caused by heavy rains in key growing states, including Karnataka.

However, the price of onions has come down marginally compared to past week and is now hovering around Rs 60 per kg in the national capital.

Xi to visit India from Oct 11 to 12: China

Beijing, Oct 9 (PTI) Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit India from October 11 to 12 to take part in the 2nd informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during which they are expected to hold comprehensive talks on a host of issues concerning the bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues.

Xi will attend the second informal meeting with Modi at Mamallapuram near Chennai from October 11 to 12 and pay a state visit to Nepal on October 13, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Wednesday.

Rajnath Singh to perform 'Shastra Puja' of Rafale aircraft in France

Paris, Oct 8 (PTI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will meet French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Tuesday and receive the first of the 36 Rafale aircraft in the French port city of Bordeaux, where he will perform 'Shastra Puja' on the occasion of Dussehra and take a sortie in the fighter jet.
