Indian PM Modi, Saudi Crown Prince hold talks to expand ties

New Delhi, Feb 19 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman on Wednesday explored ways to further deepen strategic ties, in talks taking place in the backdrop of India's escalating tension with Pakistan following the Pulwama terror attack.

The crown prince arrived here on a less than 30-hour visit Tuesday night, a day after concluding his high-profile tour of Pakistan where he said dialogue was the only way to resolve "outstanding issues" between India and Pakistan.

Indian SC holds Anil Ambani guilty of contempt of court in Ericsson case

New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) The Supreme Court of India Wednesday held RCom chairman Anil Ambani guilty of contempt of court for wilfully violating its order by not paying Rs 550-crore dues to Telecom equipment maker Ericsson

The apex court held that the RCom chiarman and Reliance Telecom chairman Satish Seth and Reliance Infratel chairperson Chhaya Virani breached the undertaking given to the apex court and the related orders

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrives in India

NEW DEHLI, Feb 20 (NNN-AGENCIES)- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has arrived in India after visiting Pakistan, on Tuesday.

New Delhi blames Pakistan for a suicide bombing attack last week that killed at least 40 Indian soldiers in disputed Kashmir.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the crown prince at the airport.

Prince Mohammed is expected to make an effort to defuse tensions between India and Pakistan as New Delhi weighs its response to the attack.

Reserve Bank of India to pay Rs 28,000 cr to govt

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) The Reserve Bank on Monday said it will give Rs 28,000 crore to the government as interim dividend.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the RBI's Central Board here.

"Based on a limited audit review and after applying the extant economic capital framework, the Board decided to transfer an interim surplus of Rs 280 billion to the central government for the half-year ended December 31, 2018," the central bank said in a statement.

This is the second successive year that the Reserve Bank will be transfering an interim surplus.

India: Judge asks accused to plant 50 trees, for granting bail

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) A man facing prosecution in a molestation case has been asked by the Delhi High Court to plant 50 trees in a government school here while granting him anticipatory bail.

Justice Sunil Gaur said the principal of the school shall ensure that the tree plantation drive takes place and the investigating officer will file a compliance report in the court.

Delhi court holds man guilty of raping US citizen

New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) A man has been held guilty of digital rape of a US citizen by a Delhi court, which said her testimony could not be said to be unreliable as she came all the way from her country to depose in the case.

When someone rapes a person using their finger or fingers it is termed as digital rape.

India: Cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad joins Congress

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) Darbhanga MP Kirti Azad, who was suspended by the ruling BJP for anti-party activities, joined the Congress on Monday.

Azad, a former India cricketer and a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the morning and was inducted into the party.

"Today in front of Rahul Gandhi I joined the Congress, I felicitated him in traditional Mithila style," Azad tweeted, along with photographs of him with the Congress president.

Argentina President arrives in India on 3-day visit

New Delhi, Feb 17 (PTI) Argentina's President Mauricio Macri arrived here Sunday on a three-day India visit during which he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance cooperation in key sectors such as economy, nuclear technology and space.

President Macri was received at the airport by Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore.

Retired Indian general urges caution against Pakistan strike
