Russia: Putin suggests he was key in Kosovo airport occupation

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin is suggesting that he was a key figure in the takeover of Kosovo’s airport by Russian troops at the end of the 1999 war.

The occupation of the Slatina airport outside the capital Pristina produced one of the most tense standoffs between Russia and the West since the end of the Cold War.

Russia’s coronavirus cases surpass 528,000

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/: Russia’s coronavirus cases rose by 8,835 in the past day, reaching 528,964, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Sunday.

According to the crisis center, the daily growth rate reached 1.7% like a day earlier.

New 1,477 cases were recorded in Moscow, 717 in the Moscow Region, 256 in St. Petersburg, 254 in the Sverdlovsk Region and 229 in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District.

Currently, 241,966 people are undergoing treatment for the coronavirus in Russia.

Germany rejects US extraterritorial sanctions against Nord Stream 2

BERLIN, June 5. /TASS/: The German government rejects extraterritorial sanctions by the United States as Berlin’s position on Nord Stream 2 has not changed, a representative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy told a briefing on Friday.

The official was commenting on the bill a group of US senators submitted to the Senate. The document implies expansion of sanctions against the gas pipeline.

"We are following the development of the situation around Nord Stream 2 in the USA, but we do not comment on this," she said.

Russia: Two planes collide tangentially at Pulkovo airport, no injuries - source

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/: Two passenger planes collided tangentially at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, a source in the emergencies services told TASS on Sunday.

"On June 14, a grazing collision occurred between flights St. Petersburg-Irkutsk and St. Petersburg-Kaliningrad during the taxiing on the runway," the source said. No casualties were reported.

The airport is working as normal.

 

Many abroad see that world be more dangerous without Russia - Putin

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/: Many in foreign countries see that the world will be a worse and less safer place without strong and prosperous Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday.

French protesters clash with police at anti-racism protests

Poland and U.S. deny that Fort Trump proposal is bogged down

WARSAW (Reuters) - Some members of Poland’s government on Friday denied a Reuters report saying talks over a U.S.-Polish defense deal known as Fort Trump were crumbling amid disputes over how to fund the deployment of additional U.S troops and where to garrison them.

“This is fake news,” Krzysztof Szczerski, a top aide to the Polish president, told public radio on Friday.

The U.S. ambassador to Poland, Georgette Mosbacher, reacting on Twitter to the report, said negotiations remained on track.
