American scientists awarded 2018 Prize in Economic Sciences

STOCKHOLM, October 8. /TASS/. American scientists William Nordhaus of Yale University and Paul Romer of New York University's Stern School of Business have been awarded the 2018 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences for "integrating innovation and climate with economic growth," the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said in a statement on Monday.

Pro-Russian party, populists top Latvia vote

7 Oct 2018; AFP: The pro-Kremlin Harmony party won Latvia's general election ahead of populists who may help it form a coalition, final results showed Sunday, after a vote tarnished by a hackers' attack on the country's top social network.

Harmony topped Saturday's vote with 19.91 percent of the vote ahead of two populist parties, KPV LV with 14.06 percent and the New Conservative Party with 13.6 percent.

Russia allocates over $60mln to fight Ebola in Africa

RHODES, October 6. /TASS/. Russia has allocated more than $60 million to fight Ebola in Western Africa, Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov said in his address to a session of the World Public Forum - Dialogue of Civilizations.

Currently, Moscow is actively assisting Africans in healthcare and medicine, he said.

"Russia has donated a total of $100 million to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria," said Bogdanov, who is also a deputy foreign minister.

Russia, North Korea, China to hold trilateral consultations in Moscow on October 9

Interpol president reported missing after trip to China

PARIS; 5 Oct 2018; (AP) — A French judicial official says the president of Interpol has been reported missing after traveling to China.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity for an ongoing investigation, said Meng Hongwei’s wife reported him missing on Friday.

The official said the Interpol chief left France, where the international police organization is based, and arrived in China at the end of September. She said there had been no news of him since.

Supplies of S-300 to Syria to stabilize situation in the region, says Russian diplomat

Russia dismisses accusations of the US that says Russia’s supplying Syria with S-300 air defense systems will have a destabilizing effect, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Thursday, adding that on the contrary - this will normalize the situation in the region.

Russian embassy in Canada rejects claims of cyberattacks as ‘witch hunt’

OTTAWA, October 5. /TASS/. Canada’s claims of Russian cyberattacks are nothing more but a new round of anti-Russian witch hunt, the Russian embassy in the country told TASS in a statement on Thursday.

"The new round of anti-Russian witch hunt around the far-fetched accusations of some cyberattacks, which is currently being fuelled by the United States, the United Kingdom and their obedient allies, including Canada, is nothing more than cheap spy hysteria and empty guesses," the embassy said.

Russian, US space chiefs to discuss future of International Space Station

NEW DELHI, October 5. /TASS/. Head of Russia’s State Space Corporation (Roscosmos) Dmitry Rogozin will meet with NASA Administrator James Bridenstine at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on October 10 to discuss the future of the International Space Station (ISS).

Congolese physician and Iraqi human rights activist win 2018 Nobel Peace Prize
