Britain says Russia likely removing nuclear warheads from missiles and firing at Ukraine

Nov 26 (Reuters) - Russia is likely removing nuclear warheads from ageing nuclear cruise missiles and firing unarmed munitions at Ukraine, Britain's military intelligence said on Saturday.

The defense ministry said open source imagery shows wreckage of an air launched cruise missile fired at Ukraine which seem to have been designed in the 1980s as a nuclear delivery system, adding that ballast was probably being substituted for the warheads.

UNESCO launches event in Italy to defend oceans, promote responsible consumption

ROME, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Under the motto "Blue is the new Black," a two-day event of The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) took place in the lagoon city of Venice in Italy on Friday and Saturday, aimed at promoting oceans protection and responsible shopping behaviors.

The "Blue Friday" initiative was launched by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO to raise awareness on the protection of seas and oceans exactly during the "Black Friday" weekend, and to provide an alternative to it.

German government seeks to ease rules for naturalization

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s socially liberal government is moving ahead with plans to ease the rules for obtaining citizenship in the European Union’s most populous country, a drive that is being assailed by the conservative opposition.

Chancellor OIaf Scholz said in a video message Saturday that Germany has long since become “the country of hope” for many, and it’s a good thing when people who have put down roots in the country decide to take citizenship.

“Germany needs better rules for the naturalization of all these great women and men,” Scholz said.

Landslide leaves up to a dozen missing on Italian island

MILAN (AP) — Heavy rainfall triggered landslides early Saturday on the southern Italian island of Ischia that collapsed buildings and left as many as 12 people missing.

Italy’s interior minister said no deaths had yet been confirmed, appearing to contradict an early announcement by another senior politician.

“At the moment there are no confirmed deaths,” said Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, speaking from the firefighters emergency coordination center.

Ukraine works to restore water, power after Russian strikes

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian authorities endeavored Saturday to restore electricity and water services after recent pummeling by Russian military strikes that vastly damaged infrastructure, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying millions have seen their power restored since blackouts swept the war-battered country days earlier.

Russia’s Justice Ministry puts Meta Platform Inc on register of extremist organizations

MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/: Meta Platforms (outlawed in Russia) has been put on the register of extremist organizations, Russia’s Justice Ministry said on Friday.

Last month, the ministry updated its list of public associations and religious organizations, which are to be suspended or banned by enforced court rulings under the federal law on combating extremist activities.

Russia deems Iran human rights investigation illegitimate — envoy
