Deliveries of Russian gas via Austria suspended, Gazprom seeks to resolve issue

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/: The transit of Russian gas via Austria has been suspended due to the refusal of an Austrian operator to confirm nominations over changes in regulations, Gazprom said.

The Russian company is currently working on resolving the issue together with its customers in Italy.

Spain: Ending conflict practically impossible after four new regions joined Russia - Borrell

MADRID, October 1. /TASS/: The fact that the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions joined Russia makes ending the conflict in Ukraine practically impossible, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell told Spain’s 24 Horas TV channel on Saturday.

"No one will recognize the annexation of these territories," he insisted. According to the EU’s top diplomat, this decision by the Russian government makes it "practically impossible for the war to end."

Russian diplomat slams London’s assistance in investigation into pipeline incident

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/: Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the UK’s offer to assist Denmark in the investigation into sabotage at the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines resembled "foxes fighting for chickens’ rights."

"The UK offered Denmark its help in investigating sabotage at Nord Streams, the office of [UK] Prime Minister [Liz Truss] reported. Foxes are fighting for chickens’ rights," the diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel on Saturday.

Avian flu detected in Portugal

LISBON, Oct 1 (Xinhua) — A new outbreak of avian flu has been confirmed at a commercial unit for raising turkeys in the Portuguese capital Lisbon, announced the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV).

According to a note released by DGAV, animal disease control measures have already been implemented, such as the slaughter of affected animals.

All poultry farms within the protection zone, a radius of three km of the outbreak, as well as in the surveillance zone within a radius of 10 km, have already been notified and inspected.

African Court judges, registry officers visit The Hague

THE HAGUE, Oct 1 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — TWO teams of judges and registry officers from the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) have visited the International Criminal Court (ICC) intending to enhance and exchange issues concerning international justice.

All the delegates from two groups were led by the president of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Lady Justice Imani Aboud.

The visit was held as part of the African Court’s increased effort to engage in judicial dialogue with international institutions sharing similar or cross-cutting mandates.

U.S. has much to gain from Nord Stream damage, Russia says at U.N.

Sept 30 (Reuters) - The Russian ambassador to the United Nations on Friday told the Security Council that the U.S. has much to gain in gas trade from damage to the Nord Stream pipeline system under the Baltic Sea but stopped short of blaming Washington for this week's explosions.

A council meeting convened at Russia's request addressed leaks discovered on Tuesday on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines on which Russian-controlled Gazprom (GAZP.MM) and its European partners spent billions of dollars.

Italy: Eni expects halt in Russian gas flow to extend into Monday

MILAN, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Italy's Eni (ENI.MI) said it would not receive any of the gas it had ordered from Russia's Gazprom (GAZP.MM) for delivery this weekend, although the firms said they were working to fix this.

Russian gas supplies through the Tarvisio entry point will be at zero for Oct. 1, Eni, the biggest importer of Russian gas in Italy, said in a statement on its website on Saturday.

The Italian group later added that it would not receive any of the requested imports for Oct. 2, and that the situation was expected to remain the same into Monday.

Kadyrov says Russia should use low-yield nuclear weapon

LONDON, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Ramzan Kadyrov, head of Russia's region of Chechnya, said on Saturday that Moscow should consider using a low-yield nuclear weapon in Ukraine after a major new defeat on the battlefield.

As Russia confirmed the loss of its stronghold of Lyman in eastern Ukraine, Kadyrov slammed top commanders for their failings and wrote on Telegram: "In my personal opinion, more drastic measures should be taken, right up to the declaration of martial law in the border areas and the use of low-yield nuclear weapons".
