Bangladesh removed from UK COVID travel red list

19 Sep 2021; AA: Bangladesh has been removed from Britain’s COVID-19 travel red list following repeated requests by the Bangladeshi government.

“Travelers from Bangladesh will no longer require 10-day hotel quarantine from 22 September 2021,” Saida Muna Tasneem, Bangladesh’s high commissioner to the UK, said in a tweet early Saturday.

India: Panic grips due to deaths in Kursauli village of Kanpur

Kanpur: Locked houses, death cases and stingy silence surround Kursauli village under Kalyanpur Block of Kanpur Nagar district.

With panic spreading due to the death of at least 12 people in the last month here due to a mysterious fever, many residents left their respective houses.

Additional chief medical officer of Kanpur Nagar district Dr Subodh Prakash said surveys were being conducted in the village to look for mosquito larvae in and out of the houses, news reports said.

India: Nearly 300 patients of dengue, malaria, fever admitted at Hallet

Kanpur: About 300 people have been admitted to the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital here owing to the rising outbreaks of viral fever, dengue, and malaria in the state.

This tally includes numerous children as well. Several patients have been diagnosed with dengue and malaria.

The hospital authorities stated that despite the high number of cases, no deaths due to the outbreak was reported yet.

India: China imposes local lockdowns as COVID-19 cases surge

Beijing, Sep 15 (AP-PTI) China tightened lockdowns and increased orders for mass testing in cities along its east coast Wednesday amid the latest surge in COVID-19 cases.

Checks have been set up in toll stations around the city of Putian in Fujian province, with a dozen of them closed entirely.

The nearby cities of Xiamen and Quanzhou have also restricted travel as the delta variant spreads through the region.

India: Kanpur district has reported 103 dengue cases

Kanpur: As many as 103 cases of dengue across the district has been reported, informs Dr A Shukla, CMO on Tuesday.

According to the news reports, nine dengue cases were reported on Tuesday and out of the total 103 cases, 80 cases have been reported in the rural areas of the district.

The report also discloses  that 206 and 1025 tests were conducted for dengue and malaria respectively across the district.

Meanwhile, the patients have been visiting hospitals in Kanpur with complaints of fever these days.

US: CDC study finds unvaccinated 11 times more likely to die from COVID

12 Sep 2021; AA: Unvaccinated individuals are 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than those who have taken the jab, according to data released Friday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Director Rochelle Wallensky said the findings are based on a review of cases, hospitalizations and deaths in 13 states, and are a testament to the "power of COVID-19 vaccination."

Turkey administers over 101.45M vaccine jabs to date

12 Sep 2021; AA: Turkey has administered over 101.45 million coronavirus vaccine jabs since the country launched an immunization campaign in January, indicated official figures released on Saturday.

Over 51.41 million people have gotten their first COVID-19 vaccine dose, while more than 40.15 million are fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said.

The data showed that 82.83% of the country's adult population has received at least one dose of a two-shot vaccine.
