Educast was first launched in Pakistan and has successfully trained hundreds of Pakistani doctors in the field of telemedicine since last year.

Pakistan cautiously reacts to UAE-Israel deal

15 Aug 2020; MEMO: Pakistan on Friday cautiously reacted to the controversial deal between the UAE and Israel to normalize ties, declaring the development with “far-reaching implications.”

“We have noted the Joint Statement announcing agreement of UAE and Israel to have full normalization of relations. This is a development with far-reaching implications,” said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

Pakistan PM: ‘US asked us to mediate between Saudi Arabia and Iran’

05 Aug 2020; MEMO: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that the mediation efforts that the United States has asked his country to initiate between Saudi Arabia and Iran are making slow progress.

“Our mediation between Iran and Saudi Arabia has not stopped and we are making progress, though it is slow,” Khan told Al Jazeera in an interview to be aired today.

Pakistan court appoints three senior lawyers as amici curiae in Jadhav's terrorism case

Islamabad, Aug 4 (PTI) A top Pakistani court has named three senior lawyers as amici curiae in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav as it ordered the Pakistan government to give "another chance" to India to appoint a counsel for the death-row prisoner.

Jadhav, the 50-year-old retired Indian Navy officer, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017.

Pakistan reports 330 new COVID-19 cases; nationwide tally reaches 280,027

Islamabad, Aug 3 (PTI) The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan reached 280,027 on Monday after 330 new infections were detected in the last 24 hours, the health ministry said.

Eight people died during the period, taking the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the country to 5,984, the Ministry of National Health Services said.

Pakistan: Coronavirus death toll crosses 5,000 mark

Islamabad, Jul 10 (PTI) The coronavirus death toll in Pakistan crossed the 5,000-mark on Friday with 75 new fatalities, the health ministry said.

According to the Ministry of National Health Services, another 2,751 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the national tally to 243,599.

Pakistan blames India for terrorist attack in Karachi

Islamabad; 01 July 2020 (UMMN): Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan has blamed India for the terrorist attack on the stock exchange building in Karachi.

"There is no doubt that India is behind the attack," Khan said in his address to Parliament on Tuesday.

Four heavily armed gunmen with grenades attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday, killing two guards and a policeman before getting killed by the security forces.

Pakistan summons Indian envoy over ceasefire violations

ISLAMABAD, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan summoned Indian charge d'affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia to the country on Wednesday to lodge protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian military along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir area, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said.

A youth was killed and five other civilians sustained serious injuries due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian forces along the LoC on Monday and Tuesday, a statement from the foreign ministry said.

Pakistan: Pilots of crashed PIA plane were not focussed, were discussing coronavirus: Minister

Islamabad, Jun 24 (PTI) The pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane that crashed last month were not focussed and they were discussing coronavirus during the flight, the country's aviation minister told Parliament on Wednesday as he pointed out their "overconfidence and lack of concentration" as some of the reasons for the tragedy that killed 97 people on board.

The domestic flight from Lahore to Karachi crashed in a residential area near the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on May 22.
