Kolkata, Nov 8 (PTI) West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Friday justified his comment that Indian cow milk have "traces of gold", saying it was backed by conclusions of research taking place in the foreign countries.

He said those who are trolling him over the remark should first prove him wrong by producing counter research papers.

Kolkata, Nov 9 (PTI) West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh Saturday questioned Trinamool Congress' silence on the Ayodhya verdict and said the ruling party of Bengal always prefers to keep quiet when it comes to taking a stand on issues related to national and social interests.

Hailing the Supreme Court verdict on the disputed land at Ayodhya as "historic", Ghosh said BJP and the saffron camp had spearheaded the Ram Janambhoomi movement for a long time and would "definitely get political benefit once the temple is built".

Kolkata, Nov 6 (PTI) The air quality in Kolkata turned 'very poor' on Wednesday night with the pollution levels in the city breaching the 300 mark for the first time in recent months, a WBPCB official said.

Measures are being taken to bring down the pollution levels, he said.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Kolkata was recorded at 343, which falls in the 'very poor' category, at the green zone Fort William automated air monitoring station at 11 pm, according to the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) official.

Kolkata, Nov 4 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Sushmita Dev Monday lashed out at the BJP government at the Centre for the "economic mess" in the country, which she said, has pushed it towards financial emergency.

Dev, who is the president of All India Mahila Congress, also criticised the Centre over the recent snooping scandal and said the "authoritarian government has been caught red handed".

Kolkata, Nov 4 (PTI) Known for being vocal on socio- political issues, film-maker Aparna Sen said she has always been a believer in issue-based politics and would love to call herself a 'radical humanist'.

Sen said, she would talk about the right or wrong steps committed by any party or organisation, if she felt the need.

"I am basically a radical humanist, a believer in secular ideals. But I have never come to the support of any particular party or group because I am a believer in issue- based politics only," Sen told PTI.

Kolkata, Oct 28 (PTI) Indian Institute of Management Calcutta has secured the 17th rank globally in the 'Financial Times Masters in Management Rankings 2019'.

The institute got the ranking for its 2-Year Masters in Business Administration (formerly Post Graduate Programme in Management), an IIM (C) statement said on Monday.

The position has been advanced by six ranks this year and the institute bagged the 1st place among the five Indian B-Schools listed in the rankings.

Kurseong (WB), Oct 24 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday took part in a 10 kilometres long march in Darjeeling hills to create awareness on environment conservation.

Banerjee, who is known to be a fitness freak, marched the entire 10 km stretch - from Kurseong to Mahanadi area - on the occasion of International Day of Climate Action.

During the march, she interacted with the locals and spoke about environment conservation and keeping the greenery intact.

Kolkata, Oct 20 (PTI) Telecom operator Reliance Jio has added 1.85 lakh subscribers in August in the city, a company statement said.

The gain in subscribers' base has been fuelled by "fast expansion of its all 4G network coverage and popular Jiophone", it said.

As per TRAI report, the subscriber base stands at 95.84 lakhs as of August, the company said in a statement.

Kolkata, Oct 21 (PTI) Assuring former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah of standing by him during "difficult times", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday extended birthday wishes to the National Conference patron.

She urged Abdullah to stay positive and prayed for his good health.
