SANAA, Jan 30 (NNN-YPA) – Houthi militia said, it launched a ballistic missile at Yemeni government army, in the south-eastern province of Shabwa, yesterday, killing and injuring at least 40 soldiers.

The missile targeted the gathering of the soldiers in the Usaylan district in northern Shabwa, Houthi military spokesman, Yehya Sarea, said.

There was no comment yet from the government over the Houthi attack.

SANAA, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Most of Yemen faced a third day without internet on Sunday after air strikes on the Red Sea city of Hodeidah, the main landing point for the country's undersea web connection, damaged its telecoms infrastructure.

In the capital Sanaa, Majid Abdullah said he was unable to receive money from relatives in Saudi Arabia at an exchange office as a result of the ongoing outage. 

Seven years of conflict have divided Yemen between an internationally-recognised government based in the southern city of Aden, and the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Sanaa.

21 Jan 2022; MEMO: At least 70 people died and 138 others were wounded in an airstrike on a prison in northern Yemen, Doctors without Borders (MSF) said on Friday and reported by Anadolu News Agency.

"Last night, Sa'ada City Remand Prison was hit by what was reported to be an air strike from the Saudi-led Coalition. Al-Gumhourriyeh Hospital in the city has received 138 wounded and 70 dead. They are so overwhelmed that they can't take any more patients," MSF said on Twitter.

20 Jan 2022; MEMO: US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, will set out on a Gulf tour this week in an effort to revive peace talks in war-torn Yemen, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Lenderking will meet with senior regional government officials and other international partners to press parties involved in the Yemeni conflict to "de-escalate militarily" and to engage in "an inclusive UN-led peace process," the US Department of State said in a statement.

ADEN, Jan 9 (NNN-YPA) – At least five people were killed yesterday, in a landmine explosion, in Yemen’s southern province of Shabwa, a military official said.

These exploding landmines were planted by the Houthi militia, before their withdrawal from the Usaylan District in Shabwa, the local military source said.

“Teams of explosives experts affiliated with the pro-government forces have begun a campaign to dismantle the Houthi-laid landmines in Shabwa,” he added.

SANAA, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition carried out airstrikes on two military camps controlled by the Houthi militia in Yemen's capital Sanaa on Wednesday early morning, the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.

The airstrikes hit the 1st Division camp in the center of the capital and the Dhabwah camp in the southern part of Sanaa, the television said without providing further details.

Large explosions caused by the airstrikes could be felt across the city, residents said.

05 Jan 2022; MEMO: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) yesterday announced the suspension of vital relief programmes in Yemen due to a lack of funding.

"Lack of funding is forcing aid agencies to cut or reduce some critical assistance programs, including food, nutrition, health and WASH," OCHA said on Twitter.

The UN organisation stressed that funding was "urgently needed to sustain life-saving interventions for millions who rely on humanitarian assistance."

04 Jan 2022; MEMO: A number of Arab states and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) yesterday condemned the seizure of a UAE-flagged cargo ship heading to the Saudi port of Jizan by Yemen's Houthis.

The vessel had set sail from the Yemeni Red Sea Island of Socotra when it was intercepted.

ADEN, Dec 31 (NNN-YPA) – 10 pro-government Yemeni soldiers were killed in a missile attack, launched by the Houthi rebels against the country’s oil-rich province of Shabwa yesterday, a military official said.

“The Houthi rebels bombed a base of pro-government forces, recently stationed in the south-western part of Shabwa with explosive-laden drones and ballistic missiles,” the local military source said.

ADEN, Yemen, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed on Saturday by a projectile fired by the Houthi rebels against Yemen's oil-rich province of Marib, a government official told Xinhua.

The local government official, who asked to remain anonymous, said that "a projectile fired by the Houthis landed on a popular marked in Al Jubah district in Marib's southern part, leaving four people killed."

He confirmed that the attack caused damage to the public properties and left nearly six other people injured including children.
