21 Jan 2022; MEMO: At least 70 people died and 138 others were wounded in an airstrike on a prison in northern Yemen, Doctors without Borders (MSF) said on Friday and reported by Anadolu News Agency.

"Last night, Sa'ada City Remand Prison was hit by what was reported to be an air strike from the Saudi-led Coalition. Al-Gumhourriyeh Hospital in the city has received 138 wounded and 70 dead. They are so overwhelmed that they can't take any more patients," MSF said on Twitter.

21 Jan 2022; MEMO: Lawyers acting on behalf of the Salhiah family of Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in East Jerusalem have confirmed that they will be taking their case to the International Court of Justice (ICC). Their case is one of several to be brought court by Bindmans Solicitors partnering with the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP), London.

Last week, the Salhiah family were attacked by Israeli occupation forces, beaten, arrested and detained. Their home was also demolished.

Aligarh, Jan 22 (PTI) Congress candidate from Aligarh city Salman Imtiaz has been slapped with an order barring him from staying in the district, authorities said on Saturday.

The externment order which was pasted on his house on Friday was dated January 14.

Imtiaz had filed his nomination for the Uttar Pradesh polls on Thursday.

"The ban was imposed on the basis of his being charged under the Gunda Act since he posed a threat to the peace of the city, Additional District Magistrate city Rakesh Kumar Patel said.

Insisting Israel is far from being a democracy, they would point to the seemingly never-ending occupation, and the countless human rights violations that inevitably follow, in trying to keep millions of people, who happened to be of a different race, under political subjugation.

20 Jan 2022; MEMO: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, UNRWA, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, OHCHR, have called on the Israeli authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Amal Nakhleh, a seriously-ill Palestinian teenager who has been in Israeli detention without charge or trial for over a year.

20 Jan 2022; MEMO: The Grand Imam of Al Azhar in Cairo, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, has joined with Jordan's King Abdullah to call for an end to Israeli violations against the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem, especially in Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, Anadolu has reported. The two men discussed the issue during a telephone call following the demolition of the Salehiyah family home in Sheikh Jarrah on Wednesday morning and the detention of family members.

20 Jan 2022; MEMO: Ramy Shaath, an activist who spent two and a half years imprisoned, has described Egypt under President Abdel Fattah el Sisi as a "banana republic," Monte Carlo International reported on Wednesday.

Shaath was freed on 6 January after he was forced to renounce his Egyptian nationality.

18 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israel's State Comptroller, Matanyahu Englman, and Privacy Authority said, on Tuesday, that they would probe Israeli police over claims of using NSO Group's Pegasus hacking technology against citizens and protesters in Israel.

Israeli business news outlet, the Calcalist, reported on Tuesday morning that Israeli police have, for years, been making widespread use of the spyware against Israeli civilians.

19 Jan 2022; MEMO: Tunisian President, Kais Saied, on Tuesday, extended the country's state of emergency for another month, Anadolu News Agency reports.

The extension will last until 18 February, according to the Tunisian official gazette.

Saied had extended the state of emergency before, on 24 July, for six months, ending on Wednesday.

Tunisia had first announced the state of emergency in 2015, following a terrorist attack. Since then, it has been extended by authorities.

19 Jan 2022; MEMO: Dozens of Israeli settlers on Tuesday evening, organised marches across the West Bank, attacking Palestinian vehicles and threatening to attack nearby homes.

Dozens of extremist settlers gathered near the northern entrance to the town of Al-Bireh in the occupied West Bank under the protection of the Israeli forces and organised a march near the homes of citizens, threatening to aggressively attack nearby homes and vehicles.
