KABUL, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan received a batch of 32 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian cash assistance on Sunday, the country's central bank said.

"Following a series of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, a shipment of humanitarian aid worth 32 million dollars reached Afghanistan on Sunday. The cash aid was delivered to a commercial bank," Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) said in a statement.

The central bank welcomed "the arrival of currencies into the country through principled and legal means."

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Arooza was furious and afraid, keeping her eyes open for Taliban on patrol as she and a friend shopped Sunday in Kabul’s Macroyan neighborhood.

The math teacher was fearful her large shawl, wrapped tight around her head, and sweeping pale brown coat would not satisfy the latest decree by the country’s religiously driven Taliban government. After all, more than just her eyes were showing. Her face was visible.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers on Saturday ordered all Afghan women to wear head-to-toe clothing in public — a sharp, hard-line pivot that confirmed the worst fears of rights activists and was bound to further complicate Taliban dealings with an already distrustful international community.

The decree, which calls for women to only show their eyes and recommends they wear the head-to-toe burqa, evoked similar restrictions on women during the Taliban’s previous rule between 1996 and 2001.

KABUL, May 6 (NNN-ANA) – At least nine people were killed, 10 others injured and three went missing, in recent floods triggered by heavy rains in Afghanistan, authorities said today.

In addition, some 300 houses were destroyed and 2,000 houses were partially destroyed by the floods, on Tuesday and Wednesday, in 11 provinces of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, the State Ministry for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs, wrote on Twitter.

KABUL, April 30 (Reuters) - A bomb blast in a passenger van in Kabul on Saturday killed at least one person, officials said, in the second explosion in the Afghan capital in two days, as security concerns rise on the eve of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

"One woman was killed and three more injured," Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for Kabul's commander, told Reuters.

A day earlier, an explosion killed more than 50 worshippers after Friday prayers at a Kabul mosque amid a spate of mosque attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. 

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A powerful explosion ripped through a mosque in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Friday, killing at least 10 people and wounding 20, a Taliban spokesman said.

Hundreds of worshippers had gathered for prayers on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramdan and the Khalifa Aga Gul Jan Mosque was packed, said local residents, fearing the casualty toll could rise further.

KABUL, Apr 24 (NNN-ANA) – Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Afghan caretaker government, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, chaired a meeting yesterday, to review issues related to the private sector, amid continued increase in poverty and unemployment, Baradar’s office said today.

The Economic Commission, headed by Baradar, “after a detailed discussion on all issues in which the private sector is ready to invest, prioritised power generation,” it wrote on the social media platform Twitter.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A roadside bomb wounded at least two children Thursday in the Afghan capital of Kabul, a police official said.

Kabul police spokesman, Khalid Zadran, said in a tweet that the explosives went off in the median strip of a road in a western area of Kabul in a mostly Shiite neighborhood. Two days earlier in the same area, multiple explosions targeting educational institutions killed at least six people, mostly children, and wounded 17 others.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for Thursday’s explosion.

KABUL, Apr 20 (NNN-ANA) – More than 450 tonnes of expired food and beverages were destroyed in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, the country’s Ministry of Public Health said today.

The spoiled food and expired beverages were seized by health authorities, in a commercial hub in Police District (PD) 1 and from several shops and supermarkets in PD 8. They were destroyed in Qalacha, an area on the southern outskirts of Kabul, the ministry wrote on Twitter.

The ministry vowed to continue the crackdown on the illegal sale and disposal of expired food across the country.

KABUL, April 20 (Xinhua) -- One civilian sustained injury as a blast struck a vehicle in Police District 2 of Afghanistan's Kabul city on Wednesday, police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.

A sticky bomb targeted a civilian vehicle in Qwai Markaz area injuring a civilian on Wednesday, Zadran said without providing more details.

In the meantime, an eyewitness on condition of anonymity claimed that two security personnel of the administration were injured in the blast.

This is the second security incident in the shape of blast in Kabul over the past two days.
