India: 29-year-old raped in Gurugram, accused absconding

Gurugram, Apr 5 (PTI) A 29-year-old woman was raped allegedly by a man living in her locality while she was alone at her home here, police said on Tuesday.

An FIR was registered at Bhondsi police station on Tuesday based on the woman's complaint even as the accused has gone absconding, they said.

The woman, who has two children, was alone at her home on Monday at the time of the incident as her husband had left for duty and the children were in school, according to the complaint filed by her.

India: Salman Khan challenges summons issued by Mumbai court

Mumbai, Apr 5 (PTI) Actor Salman Khan has approached the Bombay High Court challenging the process (summons) issued to him by a lower court in connection with the alleged misbehaviour with a journalist in 2019.

Salman's plea will be heard by a single bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere on Tuesday.

India: Nawab Malik's jail custody extended till April 18

Mumbai, Apr 4 (PTI) A special court here on Monday extended the judicial custody of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik till April 18 in connection with a money laundering case.

Malik (62) was arrested on February 23 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering probe linked to the activities of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides.

The NCP leader was in ED's custody till March 7 and was later sent to jail under judicial custody till March 21 which was later extended till April 4.

India: ED attaches Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's linked assets

New Delhi, Apr 5 (PTI) The ED has attached eight land parcels in Alibaug and a flat in Mumbai's Dadar suburb linked to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and his family under the anti-money laundering law, officials said on Tuesday.

The federal probe agency issued a provisional attachment under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to freeze the land parcels (plots) and flat, they said.

The attachment is linked to a money laundering probe linked to a Rs 1,034 crore worth land 'scam' related to the re-development of a 'chawl' in Mumbai.

Kanpur: An alumni of IIT Kanpur Rakesh Gangwal has not only signed a pact with IIT-K to set up a school of Medical Sciences and Technology on the campus, but also donated a sum of Rs100 crore for the purpose.

He will also soon join the Advisory Board of the institution.

Pakistan President asks Imran to continue as PM until appointment of caretaker premier

NEW DELHI, April 4 (NNN-Bernama) — Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi has asked Imran Khan to continue as Prime Minister until the appointment of a caretaker premier, following the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The incumbent shall continue to hold office till a caretaker prime minister is appointed by the president, according to a notification issued by Alvi’s office on Monday.

New Delhi, Apr 4 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Monday referred to the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence matter and questioned the detailed examination of evidence like postmortem report while granting bail to Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra, in the case.

A special bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli also reserved its verdict on the plea seeking cancellation of bail granted to Ashish Mishra in the case.
