US asks Israel to monitor China investments

30 Oct 2019; MEMO: Israel’s Cabinet yesterday discussed the possibility of establishing a consultative body to monitor Chinese investment in the country, local media reported.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli security cabinet the meeting came in response to a US request, no details were issues as to whether to body would be setup.

Israel's Netanyahu plans to move funds from civilian to military spending

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to shift funds designated for civilian purposes to military spending to meet any threats from Iran, a government official said on Tuesday.

Netanyahu, in a speech on Monday, did not specify the amount of the funds but said they needed to be moved “now”.

Asked about the prime minister’s remarks, the official made clear that no such shift was imminent.

U.S. Treasury's Mnuchin says U.S. will ramp up pressure on Iran

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Monday that the United States will increase economic pressure on Iran over its nuclear program.

“We have executed on a maximum pressure campaign for sanctions. They have worked, they are working, they are cutting off the money,” Mnuchin said during a visit to Israel.

He made the comments to reporters standing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who urged him to increase pressure on Iran.

Israel general resigns after claims of harassment against female officers

25 Oct 2019; MEMO: After being charged with harassing lower-ranking female soldiers, the head of the Israeli naval operations, Brigadier General Shai El-Baz resigned.

The Israeli army said that El-Baz, who took over as chief of operations in May last year and had previously headed the Shayetet 13 commando unit, resigned following news of his involvement in events a decade ago.

Netanyahu’s Rival Tasked With Forming New Israeli Gov’t

JERUSALEM, Oct 24 (NNN-XINHUA) – Benny Gantz, Israel’s former military chief, was given the mandate to form a new government after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s failure to do so, amid a political deadlock.

Israeli President, Reuven Rivlin, officially tasked Gantz, leader of the centrist Blue and White party, with forming a new government.

Speaking in a broadcast ceremony, Rivlin urged Gantz to “compromise” and form a unity government, to avoid another round of elections.

Israel issues 140 demolition orders for Arabs in Negev

24 Oct 2019; MEMO: Teams of Israel’s Authority for Development and Settlement of Bedouin and the Land Administration broke distributed 140 demolition orders to homes and a mosque in Rahat, Safa news agency reported yesterday.

All of the houses are owned by the families of Al-Atayqa and Al-Buhairi, who have been living in them for more than 70 years; before the creation of the occupation state of Israel.

Israel: Netanyahu fails to form a coalition government
