India: Hindutva terrorist kills senior colleague and 3 others in train

Palghar; 2 Aug 2023 (UMMN): A Hindutva terrorist shot dead a senior colleague and three Muslim passengers on board a train, while hailing PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

The terrorist was identified as Chetan Singh, 33, from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh state, a constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

India: 17 Killed As Crane Collapsed At Road Construction Site In Maharashtra

NEW DELHI, Aug 1 (NNN-PTI) – At least 17 workers were killed and three others injured today, after a crane collapsed at a road construction site, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, officials said.

The incident occurred near Shahapur in Thane district, about 71 km north-east of Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were rushed to the spot.

“Our search and rescue operation is still underway,” said Sarang Kurve, a senior official of NDRF.

Four Shot Dead Inside Moving Train In India

NEW DELHI, Jul 31 (NNN-PTI) – At least four persons were killed, when a police officer with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), allegedly opened indiscriminate fire, inside a moving train, in the south-western state of Maharashtra, today, official sources said.

The shootout took place inside the “Jaipur Express” train (Train Number 12956), which was moving from the country’s western city of Jaipur towards the financial capital, Mumbai, after it had crossed the Palghar railway station, nearly 60 miles from Mumbai.

India’s Parliament rocked by protests for a third day over ethnic violence in remote state

NEW DELHI (AP) — India’s Parliament was disrupted for a third day Monday by opposition protests over ethnic clashes in a remote northeastern state in which more than 130 people have been killed since May.

Opposition lawmakers carried placards and chanted slogans outside the Parliament building as they demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the violence in Manipur state before a debate on the issue.

Mumbai, Jul 24 (PTI) One should behave with a sense of responsibility while communicating something to others via their WhatsApp status, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has said while refusing to quash a case against a man for posting content allegedly spreading hatred against a religious group.

A division bench of Justices Vinay Joshi and Valmiki SA Menezes in its order on July 12 said the purpose of WhatsApp status nowadays is to convey something to your contacts.

India: ASI team stops 'survey work' of mosque in Varanasi following SC order

Varanasi (UP), Jul 24 (PTI) A survey of the Gyanvapi complex to ascertain if the mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi was built upon a temple was stopped by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Monday following a Supreme Court order.

The apex Court has halted the "detailed scientific survey" till 5 pm on July 26, saying "some breathing time" needed to be granted to appeal against the order.

Varanasi (UP), Jul 24 (PTI) A 30-member team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) entered the Gyanvapi complex on Monday morning to carry out a scientific survey in accordance with court orders to determine if the mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple was built upon a temple.

Besides the ASI team, which entered the complex around 7 am, the lawyers of all the Hindu petitioners to the legal dispute are also present at the spot, Madan Mohan Yadav, one of the counsel, said.

Lightning Killed Two, Injured Four In India’s Central State

NEW DELHI, Jul 23 (NNN-PTI) – At least two people were killed and four others injured, after being struck by lightning in the central India state of Madhya Pradesh, police said, today.

The incident took place in the Bakswaha area of Chhatarpur district, about 247 km north-east of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh.

The state experienced heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and accompanying lightning strikes, last night.

Lightning-related incidents are a recurring concern during the monsoon season in India, leading to numerous fatalities each year.

Indian rescuers recover 27 dead but no sign of dozens of missing villagers swamped by a landslide

NEW DELHI (AP) — Hundreds of rescuers ended a four-day search for scores of people still missing after heavy monsoon rains triggered a massive landslide in a village in western India, an official said Sunday.

The rescue teams recovered the bodies of 27 people killed in the Wednesday night landslide that hit the Raigadh district village of Irshalwadi, located nearly 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Mumbai, the Maharashtra state capital.
