US threatens EU with new tariffs over Airbus subsidies

Shakeup at U.S. Department of Homeland Security raises concern

WASHINGTON, April 8 (Xinhua) -- A recent shakeup at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has raised concerns among lawmakers, including allies of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Senate Chuck Grassley, a Republican Senator from Iowa who previously served as Judiciary Committee Chairman, said in an interview with U.S. media Monday that he was "very concerned" over the possible ousting of more DHS senior officials, after Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and Director of the Secret Service Randolph Alles exited.

U.S. designates Iran's IRGC a "foreign terrorist organization", Iran retaliated

WASHINGTON, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The United States on Monday designated Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a "foreign terrorist organization" (FTO), an unprecedented move that will further heighten U.S.-Iran tensions, and complicate the Middle East situation.

"This designation will be the first time that the United States has ever named a part of another government as an FTO," U.S. President Donald Trump said in a statement issued by the White House.

American Airlines extends Max-caused cancellations to June 5

WASHINGTON (AP) — American Airlines is extending by over a month its cancellations of about 90 daily flights as the troubled 737 Max plane remains grounded by regulators.

American said Sunday it is extending the cancellations through June 5 from the earlier timeframe of April 24. The airline acknowledged in a statement that the prolonged cancellations could bring disruption for some travelers.

Chinese American organization condemns increasing racial profiling in U.S.

NEW YORK, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The Committee of 100 (C100), a prominent Chinese American organization, on Sunday condemned the growing racial profiling against Chinese Americans in the United States.

The C100 members are compelled to stand up and speak out against the "increasingly common" racial profiling in the country, where "Chinese Americans are being targeted as potential traitors, spies, and agents of foreign influence," said a statement issued by the organization.
