Delhi minister visits relief camp in riot-hit Mustafabad

New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI) Delhi minister Gopal Rai visited a relief camp in violence-hit northeast Delhi on Monday and assured people that more such facilities would be opened if needed.

The labour and employment minister visited the relief camp at Mustafabad which has a capacity to accommodate 1,000 people.

Death Toll In Indian Capital Communal Violence Rises To 46

NEW DELHI, Mar 2 (NNN-PTI) – The death toll during the four-day communal violence in the Indian capital city rose to 46 on Sunday, officials said.

“Today (yesterday), three more bodies were recovered from the violence-hit northeast part of the city,” a police official said. “One of the bodies was found in a canal in Gokalpuri and two were recovered from the Bhagirathi Vihar canal.”

According to officials, the death toll by now stands at 46. Over 350 people were also injured in the violence.

Delhi riots "targeted structural violence": Owaisi

Hyderabad, March 1 (PTI) Calling the Delhi riots as "targeted structural violence," AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday said the responsibility lies at the doorstep of the BJP government and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the affected areas.

Bolpur (WB), Feb 29 (PTI) Expressing concern over the communal clashes in Delhi, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen said on Saturday that India is a secular country and people cannot be divided on religious lines.

Addressing a press conference, he said it should be found out whether the police is inefficient or there was a lack of effort on the part of the government to tackle the violence.

Kolkata, Feb 29 (PTI) A popular Bengali actor, who joined the BJP in 2013, has resigned from the primary membership of the party expressing dismay over the "recent hate-filled situation" in the country.

She put in her papers on Friday. The BJP, however, hoped she will reconsider the decision.

Death toll in Indian capital communal violence rises to 42

NEW DELHI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The death toll during communal violence in the Indian capital city - Delhi Friday evening rose to 42, officials said.

More than 350 people were injured in the violence that ravaged the city for three days.

"As per records available at different hospitals, the death toll by now is 42," an official said. "Besides this, the number of injured in the violence is over 350."

Police officials Friday said the situation was under control but the personnel were still deployed in the affected areas.

Hundreds rally in US cities against anti-Muslim violence in India

WASHINGTON, March 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Hundreds of Indian Americans of different faiths rallied outside Indian consulates in major American cities on Friday evening to protest against the recent violence in Delhi that has killed at least 42 people, and injured hundreds.

Violence erupted in the Indian capital on Monday, leading to a three-day-long rampage, with Hindu mobs attacking Muslim homes, shops and mosques.
