UN rights session adopts resolution to mark 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration

GENEVA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday adopted a resolution submitted by China and other countries at its ongoing 42nd session to mark the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

British official's remarks on Hong Kong "irresponsible," says Chinese embassy

LONDON, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in London on Thursday expressed grave concerns and firm opposition to the "irresponsible" remarks by a British official over the situation in Hong Kong.

"We express grave concern and firm opposition to the British government official once again making irresponsible remarks on Hong Kong," said the spokesperson in a statement, adding that the Chinese side has made its solemn position on Hong Kong clear to Britain on many occasions.

British PM Johnson loses fresh parliamentary vote as tensions rise

LONDON, Sept 27 (NNN-AGENCIES) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson suffered yet another setback after MPs rejected a request to briefly suspend business for his party’s conference, highlighting the hostility he faces in parliament just weeks before Brexit.

In his seventh successive defeat in parliament, MPs voted to reject his call for three days off next week to hold his Conservative party’s annual conference.

UNHRC adopts resolution asking Rohingyas to go back to Myanmar

GENEVA, Sept 27 (NNN-BSS) — The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted a resolution urging Myanmar to create conducive environment in northern Rakhine state and convince Rohingyas to return with full safety and dignity as per the bilateral agreement with Bangladesh.

The resolution was adopted by a vote of 37 in favour, two against and seven abstentions during the ongoing 42 regular session of the UNHRC in Geneva Thursday.

The resolution, brought by Bangladesh was finalized by all member countries of OIC and European Union.

Ukrainian leader bristles at release of Trump transcript

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s president bristled at the release of his comments from a private conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, which caused him some embarrassment at home.

The rough transcript of Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy released Wednesday shows that Trump pressed Ukraine to “look into” his Democratic political rival Joe Biden. The July 25 call is now at the center of a U.S. impeachment probe.

Russian military satellite enters designated orbit

MOSCOW, September 26. /TASS/: A Russian military satellite launched from the Plesetsk spaceport in north Russia on Thursday separated from the Fregat booster and entered the designated orbit, the Defense Ministry’s press office reported.

"The Fregat booster has successfully delivered the satellite into orbit in the interests of the Defense Ministry of Russia," the press office said in a statement.
