UK Attorney General: We will not suspend parliament unlawfully again

LONDON (Reuters) - The British government will not try to suspend parliament again in a way that contravenes Tuesday’s ruling of the Supreme Court, Attorney General Geoffrey Cox said, speaking after the court declared an earlier suspension unlawful.

Asked whether the government intended to try again to suspend - or prorogue - parliament for a lengthy period ahead of Brexit, Cox said: “There will be no prorogation that does not comply with the terms of the judgment of the Supreme Court.”

Oil falls on Trump's bearish China trade comments

LONDON (Reuters) - Oil prices fell for a second day on Wednesday on worries that fuel demand could fall after U.S. President Donald Trump doused recent optimism over China-U.S. trade talks at a time of rising U.S. crude oil stockpiles.

Brent crude futures LCOc1 were down $1.05 cents at $62.05 a barrel by 1127 GMT, erasing all gains made after an attack on Saudi oil facilities sent the benchmark up around 20% last week.

Nevertheless, the benchmark remains on track for its first monthly gain since June.

Saudi Aramco restores oil output earlier than expected: sources

LONDON (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has restored its oil production capacity to 11.3 million barrels per day, three sources briefed on Saudi Aramco’s operations told Reuters, maintaining a faster than expected recovery after the Sept. 14 attacks on its oil facilities.

Crude output from the Khurais field is now at 1.3 million bpd and the Abqaiq plant is currently at about 4.9 million bpd, the sources said. On Monday, sources had said Abqaiq production was about 3 million bpd.

Putin to Maduro: Russia backs talks between Venezuela's government, opposition

MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin told his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro at talks in Moscow on Wednesday that Russia supported dialogue between the government and opposition to find a way out of Venezuela’s political crisis.

Venezuela’s opposition said earlier this month that a dialogue mediated by Norway to try to resolve the crisis in Venezuela had ended, six weeks after Maduro’s government suspended its participation.

Russian troops fire T-72 tank guns in Tajikistan drills

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: Armored units of Russia’s 201st military base started tactical drills at the Lyaur practice range in Tajikistan, the press office of the Central Military District reported on Tuesday.

"The crews of T-72 tanks performed a march to the area of the drills and started fortifying firing positions, command and observation posts for holding maneuverable defense against a notional enemy’s mechanized units that have overcome mountainous terrain," the press office said in a statement.

Ukraine buys Soviet-made Gvozdika self-propelled artillery guns from Czech Republic

KIEV, September 24. /TASS/: The Ukrainian state-run company Ukrinmash has purchased 16 Soviet-made 122mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems from the Czech Republic, the Ukrainian website Defense Express reported on Tuesday.

"The combat hardware’s total value amounted to $1.56 million," the website reads.

Officials discover teen plotting mass school killing in Kirov had conflict with peers

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: A teenager from the Russian city of Kirov who had been planning a mass killing at a school was in conflict with his peers, Kirov Region Ombudsman for Children’s Rights Vladimir Shabardin told TASS on Tuesday.

"The teenager had clashed with his peers. The minor is currently receiving psychological assistance. We are also speaking to his classmates," he said, adding that the adolescent is continuing his education.
