Russia: Putin discusses evacuation of CIS citizens from Gaza with Egyptian president

MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/: Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi discussed during their phone talks the evacuation of citizens from Russia and other CIS countries from the Gaza Strip, the Kremlin’s press office reported on Monday.

"The sides touched upon the issues of Egypt’s assistance in evacuating citizens of Russia and CIS states from the Gaza Strip," the press office said after the phone talks.

MOSCOW, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin entered the fevered diplomatic fray of the Middle East on Monday, speaking to five of the major players including Iran and leading Arab powers in an attempt to secure a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.

Russia, which has relationships with Iran, Hamas, major Arab powers as well as with the Palestinians and with Israel, has repeatedly said the United States and the West have ignored the need for an independent Palestinian state within 1967 borders.

Russia imposes temporary ban on Japanese seafood imports

MOSCOW, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Russia has adopted temporary restrictive measures against fish and seafood imports from Japan, Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor announced Monday.

Rosselkhoznadzor noted that as of Oct. 16, Russia will temporarily ban the import of fish and seafood from Japan.

It said that this decision was taken as a "precautionary measure," adding that the restrictions would stay until Moscow is provided with comprehensive information that confirms the safety of Japanese fish and seafood products.

Putin warns of 'completely different war' if West chooses conflict with Russia

16 October 2023; AA: Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday that if Western countries like the US want to go to war with Russia, it would be "completely different" from the special military operation in Ukraine.

Putin made assessments about the Russia-Ukraine war and Russia-China relations in an interview with Russian state broadcaster Rossiya.

Speaking about Ukraine's counteroffensive, Putin said it has “completely failed.”

Russian jet stops US drone from crossing border over Black Sea – Defense Ministry

MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/: A Russian Su-27 jet has stopped a US RQ-4B Global Hawk surveillance drone from crossing into Russian airspace over the Black Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, Russian airspace surveillance equipment detected an air target approaching the Russian state border over the Black Sea on October 15. A Su-27 fighter jet was scrambled to prevent it from entering Russian airspace, it said.

Russia: Putin to visit China to deepen 'no limits' partnership with Xi

MOSCOW, Oct 15 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that suggestions the United States should prepare for a war against Russia and China were nonsense, and warned the West that any war against Russia would be on a whole different level to the conflict in Ukraine.

A bipartisan panel appointed by the U.S. Congress said on Thursday that Washington must prepare for possible simultaneous wars with Moscow and Beijing by expanding its conventional forces, strengthening alliances and enhancing its nuclear weapons modernization programme.
