Russian envoy calls on UN to analyze damage done to countries by unilateral sanctions

UNITED NATIONS, November 26. /TASS/: Russia calls on the United Nations to monitor damage done to various countries by the United States’ and the European Union’s unilateral sanction imposed in bypassing the United Nations Security Council, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said on Wednesday at a UN Security Council informal meeting on the issue of illegal unilateral sanctions.

The meeting was convened at the initiative of Russia, China, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Niger, and South Africa.

USA: NYS governor warns of COVID-19 hospitalization spike over holiday season

NEW YORK, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- New York State's total COVID-19 hospitalizations are up 128 percent in three weeks, from 1,253 earlier this month to 2,856, and "serious caution" is called for over this Thanksgiving, Governor Andrew Cuomo told his press briefing on Tuesday.

"By the current rate of increase in COVID, we're gonna see a major spike," said Cuomo, noting that the 30-day-strong holiday season is already in sight, where people used to get together and celebrate, a main force fueling the spread of the coronavirus.

UN chief slams rocket attacks in Kabul; underscores need to end violence

UNITED NATIONS, Nov 22 (APP): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned Saturday’s rocket attacks into the heart of Kabul that killed at least eight civilians and wounded many more.

The rockets reportedly were fired from vehicles, hitting several densely populated areas in the capital city. The ISIL/Da’esh affiliate in Afghanistan has claimed responsibility, according to media reports which cited intelligence sources.

UN chief says global coalition for net zero emissions by 2050 taking shape

UNITED NATIONS, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday that a global coalition for net zero emissions by 2050 is taking shape, while calling for more action on the climatic front.

"A great and growing global coalition for net zero emissions by 2050 is taking shape," the UN chief told reporters at a hybrid press conference held at the UN headquarters in New York.

Guterres will meet with G20 leaders online over the weekend.
