Latin American leaders push at UN for free COVID-19 vaccine

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Latin American leaders have appealed at the United Nations for free access to a future Covid-19 vaccine, urging major powers to share their know-how for the sake of global well-being.

Latin America has taken a heavy blow from COVID-19 with nearly nine million cases and more than 330,000 deaths, one third of the global total, according to an AFP tally based on official data.

Modi pledges to use India vaccine-production capacity to help 'all humanity'

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged at the United Nations on Saturday that his country’s vaccine production capacity would be made available globally to fight the COVID-19 crisis.

“As the largest vaccine-producing country of the world, I want to give one more assurance to the global community today,” Modi said in a pre-recorded speech to the U.N. General Assembly. “India’s vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used to help all humanity in fighting this crisis.”

Google parent agrees to $310M sexual misconduct lawsuit settlement

New York, Sep 25 (AP/PTI) Google's parent company has reached a 310 million settlement in a shareholder lawsuit over its treatment of allegations of executives' sexual misconduct.

Alphabet Inc said Friday that it will prohibit severance packages for anyone fired for misconduct or is the subject of a sexual misconduct investigation. A special team will investigate any allegations against executives and report to the board's audit committee.

Global COVID-19 cases surpass 32 mln -- Johns Hopkins University

NEW YORK, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Global COVID-19 cases surpassed 32 million on Thursday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The global case count reached 32,048,333, with a total of 979,454 deaths worldwide as of 3:23 p.m. local time (1923 GMT), the CSSE data showed.
