Venezuelan government ready for Norway-mediated talks with opposition — Maduro

CARACAS, September 18. /TASS/: The Venezuelan government is ready to engage in a new round of Norway-mediated talks with the opposition at any moment, the country’s President Nicolas Maduro said on Tuesday.

"When Norway would want to invite us to a new meeting to revew the clauses that we had discussed with them and the opposition, we will give our consent regardless of when, where and how the meeting will be held," Maduro said in a speech aired via Twitter.

Venezuelan government and opposition sign peace dialogue agreement

CARACAS, Sept 17 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — The Government and the opposition of Venezuela signed on Monday an agreement and installation of the National Dialogue Table for Peace, in accordance with the principles of sovereignty and self-determination of the South American country.

With the purpose of contributing to a political solution among Venezuelans, both parties agreed to deal with the promptness and urgency of the case, the new formation of the National Electoral Council and the guarantees that must accompany the voting processes.

Venezuelan president announces flights between Caracas, Moscow to start soon

CARACAS, September 13. /TASS/: Direct flights will start soon between Caracas and Moscow, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Thursday.

"Very soon direct flights will be launched between Caracas and Moscow for young people to be able to spend holidays in Russia," he said in a statement, which was broadcast on Twitter.

Maduro did not provide more details on the plans on the flights launch.

Venezuela deploys troops on Colombian border

CARACAS, Sept 7 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — More than 3,000 men and women from the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB) are deployed along the border with Colombia, announced Freddy Bernal, protector of the state of Tachira.

A commission led by Bernal and border Constituent Assembly member, William Parada, assessed the conditions in the area 48 hours after President Nicolas Maduro declared an alert in the region, given the possibility of an attack from the neighboring country, according to reports from the Protectorate’s press office.

Venezuelan opposition leader, associates to be investigated for crimes against state

CARACAS, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Venezuelan government has asked the Public Ministry to investigate opposition leader Juan Guaido and his associates for possible crimes against the state, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said Thursday.

At a press conference, Rodriguez played a taped phone conversation between Manuel Avendano, identified as an "outside adviser" to Guaido, and Vanessa Neumann, a Venezuelan-American and member of Guaido's inner circle.

Venezuelans to march against US blockade

CARACAS, Aug 31 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Venezuelans will march in defense of national sovereignty and against the blockade imposed by the United States on the South American nation, according to Francisco Torrealba, vice president of the working class section of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

The popular mobilization is slated for Saturday, 10:00 a.m. local time, marching from Morelos square to the Miraflores Presidential Palace.

Venezuela's Maduro proposes idea of "permanent negotiating table" between gov't, opposition

CARACAS, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he has proposed creating a "permanent negotiating table" between the ruling socialist party and the U.S.-backed opposition.

"I have proposed creating a permanent mechanism for dialogue, a permanent negotiation table, which is capable of withstanding any storm, any difficulty, any situation -- dialogue, dialogue for peace," Maduro said in a recent interview with Xinhua.

Maduro said he has also proposed that the two sides discuss the main problems facing Venezuela and "seek agreed-on, shared solutions."

In Venezuela, Guaidó questions Maduro claims about US talks

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó on Wednesday cast doubt on President Nicolás Maduro’s claim that he is overseeing secret talks with the United States, saying it only reflects disarray within the Venezuelan government.

Guaidó spoke a day after Maduro and President Donald Trump said high-level officials in their respective administrations have been meeting about ending the South American nation’s deepening crisis.

Venezuela to strengthen food production to challenge US blockade

CARACAS, Aug 18 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — The Venezuelan government is currently implementing new strategies to boost domestic food production and guarantee the Local Committees for Supply and Production (CLAP) as a means to face the economic and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

CLAPs, which include the distribution of food bags and boxes for those in need, is currently supplied with 60% of domestic products, according to official sources.

Russia, China offer to help Venezuela in preparing for 2020 Olympics — Maduro

CARACAS, August 16. /TASS/: Russia and China have offered to help Venezuelan athletes to prepare for the next Summer Olympic Games, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Thursday.

"Russia and China have offered us special help in training," Maduro said at a meeting with young athletes that was broadcast on Twitter.

He said that "many athletes" will be able to go to Russia and China for training. "I am confident that we will show our best results in history at the Tokyo Olympics," Maduro noted.
