ANKARA, February 8. /TASS/: A delegation from Russia is expected to come to Turkey on Saturday for bilateral talks on the situation in the de-escalation zone in the Syrian northwestern city of Idlib, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

"A Russian delegation, led by representatives of the Foreign Ministry, comes to Turkey," Cavusoglu said. "We will hold talks and, if it is necessary, negotiations between the leaders of our countries may follow."

According to Cavusoglu, "the aggression of the regime [of Syrian President Bashar Assad] continues in Idlib."

6 February 2020; AFP: Three people have died and 179 were injured when a plane skidded off the runway at an Istanbul airport, caught fire and split into three after landing in rough weather.

Live images broadcast on Turkish television showed several people climbing through a large crack in the severed aircraft and escaping onto one of the wings at the rear.

05 Feb 2020; MEMO: The United States yesterday condemned the Syrian regime’s mortar attack against Turkish forces in Idlib province, Anadolu reported.

“We stand by our NATO ally Turkey against these actions, send condolences to the Turkish government on the deaths of their people and fully support Turkey’s justified self-defence actions in response,” Anadolu quoted an unnamed State Department spokeswoman saying.

“We are consulting with the Turkish government on this matter,” she added.

ANKARA (Reuters) - Syrian government forces in Idlib must pull back behind a line of Turkish observation posts by the end of this month, Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday, warning that if they did not withdraw Turkey would drive them back.

Speaking two days after eight Turkish military personnel were killed by shelling in Idlib, prompting Turkish retaliation, Erdogan said two of the Turkish posts were now behind the Syrian government front line.

ANKARA, February 4. /TASS/: Ankara and Russia are taking steps to ease tensions in the Syrian province of Idlib, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Tuesday.

"We seek to put an end to these conflicts together with Russia, like we did within the Astana and Sochi processes. We cannot put up with attacks on our forces, so we took retaliatory measures in Idlib and we will continue to act this way," he pointed out.

According to Cavusoglu, Ankara and Moscow "would like to ensure a permanent ceasefire and pave the way for a political solution."

ANKARA, February 3. /TASS/: Turkey’s F-16 fighter jets and artillery have carried out strikes against 40 targets in Syria’s Idlib in response to the shelling of its troops, which had killed four soldiers, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters at a news conference in Ankara.

"Turkish F-16 jets and howitzers continue to strike targets of the [Assad] regime. About 40 locations began our targets. From 30 to 35 Syrians were neutralized as a result," the Turkish leader stressed. He did not specify whether those were Syrian army soldiers.

ISTANBUL, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Turkey has been retaliating against the Syrian forces' attack on its soldiers in the northern Syrian region of Idlib.

"Our artillery and F16 (warplanes) are all operating in the field," Erdogan said in a televised speech.

"We have soldiers martyred, and it is not possible for us to remain silent," he added.

Turkish forces have identified about 40 spots, and around "30 to 35 Syrians on the opposite side have been neutralized" after the attack, Erdogan noted.

Istanbul, Feb 3 (AFP/PTI) Turkey has killed dozens of Syrian forces in retaliatory fire after four of its soldiers died in shelling on positions in the northwest of the country, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday.

"There is an ongoing operation right now and... according to initial findings around 30 to 35 Syrians on the other side were neutralised," he told reporters at an Istanbul airport before leaving for Ukraine.
