OTTAWA, Feb 24 (NNN-Xinhua) — Air Canada said that a passenger aboard one of its flights from Montreal to Vancouver on Feb 14 has tested positive for COVID-19.

The airline said it was informed by health authorities on Saturday.

“Air Canada is working with public health authorities and has taken all recommended measures,” a spokesperson of the airline said Sunday.

The British Columbia Center for Disease Control is following up with other passengers on that flight to inform them of the news, according to Air Canada.

The strike saw 30,000 union members at Queen’s Park. Another 20,000 were picketing along a 30-km stretch on Highway 10, in Peel Region, local media reported.

MONTREAL, Feb 14 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The new coronavirus outbreak could mean a reduction of US$4-5 billion in worldwide airline revenue, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) said.

The UN agency reported that 70 airlines have cancelled all international flights in and out of China and 50 others have reduced their operations.

Preliminary estimates show this has meant a reduction of nearly 20 million passengers compared to expectations for the first quarter of 2020.

OTTAWA, Feb 5 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A Canadian man on a flight from Toronto to Jamaica falsely announced to passengers that he had the coronavirus, forcing the plane to return to the airport where he was arrested.

The incident occurred on Monday during a WestJet Airlines flight from Toronto to Montego Bay.

“A male was causing a disturbance on the flight, saying he had been to China and had the coronavirus,” said Sarah Patten, a spokeswoman for police in the town of Peel, close to Toronto’s Pearson international airport.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Trade confidence among Canadian exporters fell to its lowest level in nearly a decade, Canada’s export credit agency said on Tuesday, as businesses wrestle with protectionist policies and fret about the global economy.

In its biannual survey of 1,000 Canadian exporters, Export Development Canada (EDC) said its trade confidence index fell to 69.3% - the lowest level since 2012 and 6% below the survey’s historical average.

TORONTO (AP) — Canada’s Transportation Safety Board said Thursday it has been invited by Iran to participate in the download and analysis of the flight recorders from the downing of a Ukraine International Airlines jet “whenever and wherever” that takes place.

Iran has acknowledged that its armed forces fired two Russian anti-aircraft missiles at the jetliner that crashed after taking off from Tehran’s main airport earlier this month, killing all 176 people on board. Fifty-seven Canadians died and 138 of the passengers were headed to Canada.
