India: Dr Shalini Mohan of GSVM College tenders resignation

Kanpur: Dr.Shalini Mohan, associate professor in eye department of GSVM College has tendered his resignation. The principal Prof. RB Kamal has said his resignation letter has been forwarded to the administration. 
Being an expert hand in the treatment of Glaucoma, she was in-charge of eye bank. She was also known for the cornea transplant which is performed to remove blindness.
She had earlier resigned too but the seniors persuaded her to withdraw.

India: Rahul Gandhi pushed, shoved to the ground then arrested

NOIDA; 01 Oct 2020 (UMMN): Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were going to Hathras to meet family members of the 19-year-old woman who died on September 29, two weeks after being raped and tortured by four men when their vehicle was stopped at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border by UP Police.

Rahul Gandhi was shoved and pushed to the ground by police personnel, as he decided to walk on foot to Hathras.

India: Woman's body found stuffed in box in UP's Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur (UP), Oct 1 (PTI) The body of an unidentified woman was found stuffed in a box lying in the Maniram area in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district on Thursday, police said.

The police said there was no visible injury marks on the body of the woman, who is believed to be in her early 30s. She was wearing a red dress and put on vermilion and bindi on her forehead.

India: Woman found dead near rail tracks in UP's Shamli

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 1 (PTI) A half-burnt body of a woman was found near the rail tracks in Shamli district's Kandhla town, police said here on Thursday.

According to SHO Karmvir Singh, the body was found on Wednesday evening and has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

He said those behind the incident might have tried to hid her identity by burning the body.

The woman has been identified as Satbiri. According to her son Balram, she was missing for a day.

India: Hathras woman not raped, claims UP Police

Lucknow, Oct 1 (PTI) A senior Uttar Pradesh police officer said on Thursday said the forensic report has revealed that the 19-year-old Hathras woman who succumbed to her injuries at a Delhi hospital was not raped.

Citing a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report, ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said the cause of her death is an injury on the neck and trauma resulting due to it.

"The report of the FSL has also come. It says clearly that samples did not have sperm. It makes clear that there was no rape or gang rape," Kumar said.

India: Mathura court dismisses plea seeking removal of mosque

Mathura, Sep 30 (PTI) A Mathura court on Wednesday dismissed the plea seeking the removal of a mosque near the birthplace of Lord Krishna here, the petitioners' counsel said.

We will move the upper court as several pertinent issues have not been considered by the court, the counsel for the plaintiffs, Hari Shankar Jain, said.

Last week, a group of people moved the Mathura court over the 17th century Shahi Idgah mosque they claim was built at the birthplace of Lord Krishna, within the 13.37-acre premises of the Katra Keshav Dev temple.

India: Bar Association polls remain still uncertain

India: 8-yr-old raped in UP's Azamgarh

Azamgarh (UP), Sep 30 (PTI) An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man in a village in Jiyanpur area of the Azamgarh district, police said on Wednesday.

The accused took the girl with himself from her home telling her mother that she would have her bath in his house, the police said, quoting from the complaint lodged by the girl's mother.

India: Another Dailit woman gang-raped, dies in UP

Balrampur (UP), Sep 30 (PTI) Amid the widespread outrage over the alleged gang-rape and murder of a Dalit teen from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, an yet another scheduled caste woman died in Balrampur district of the state while being rushed to a hospital after her rape by two youths.

Balrampur Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma said the incident happened in the Gaisari area of the district, where a 22-year-old Dalit woman, working in a private firm, failed to return home in time on Tuesday evening, prompting her parents to start looking for her.
