India: 6-yr-old raped by neighbour in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 11 (PTI) A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in her neighbourhood in Shamli district, police said on Sunday.

The victim's mother alleged that the accused lured the girl with Rs 10, following which he took her to a nearby place to commit the crime, Superintendent of Police Nityanand Rai said.

The youth has been arrested, Rai said, adding that the girl was sent for post-mortem.

India: Students get to know of marks handily in online exam

Kanpur: Not only teaching remains online but the half-yearly examination was also held online. As usual, the questions were asked more than the time allotted for the answer.

Every subject paper was held online in the morning time. Voice and video remained open until the end of the time.

Students kept on listening, "submit, submit quickly as time gets over." They have no choice as to complete answers within the time.

India: CBI takes over Hathras gangrape murder case probe

New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) The CBI registered an FIR early Sunday morning and took over investigation into the alleged gangrape and murder of a Dalit woman last month in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, officials said.

The central probe agency registered the FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections related to gangrape and murder among others, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

India: Panic & uproar grip school as 2-mt-long python appears

Kanpur: There were panic and uproar at a school in Naubasta area here on Saturday afternoon. Unmindful of any unusual occurrence, the teachers remained busy in the teaching.

The school was opened days after so the focus was given only on the pedagogy.

Who would have realised the sensation of a python in the temple of learning? If the school was not bereft of the students, the reptile appeared to be resting outside the room in quiet space. Was it meditating or securing the school in the absence of a sentry?

India: UP woman killed over dowry

Budaun, Oct 10 (PTI) A 23-year-old woman was killed allegedly by her husband following an altercation over dowry, police said on Saturday.

According to a police complaint lodged by the woman's father Nathulal, his daughter Pravesh Kumari got married to Rambaran three years ago and Rs 6 lakh was given to Rambaran's family as dowry at that time.

He claimed that Rambaran's family had been demanding an additional Rs 2 lakh, which led to frequent disputes between the husband and wife.

India: Consumers deposit electricity bills on Second Saturday

Kanpur: Month's second Saturday happens to be normally a holiday but the electricity department did a big service by opening its cash counter on a particular day.

When the consumers reached the sub-station office near JK Colony in Jajmau they were relieved to find the non-closure of the cash deposit counter. They easily deposited their respective bills without any trouble. 

There was no crowd and the consumers paid the amount of electricity bill without standing in the long queue.

India: Hardware shop burgled near Maharajpur police station in Kanpur

Kanpur: A hardware shop was burgled in a very vicious style. It was existing at a distance of only 100 mts from Maharajpur police station. The burglars were putting on a police uniform and helmet.

No arrest has been made so far. The Police are busy in solving the case on the clues received through the close circuit camera footage. The police station officer Raghvendra Singh told that the search of the burglars was going on the basis of CCTV footage.
