Kashmir: NC chief Farooq Abdullah tests positive for COVID-19

Srinagar, Mar 30 (PTI) National Conference president and Lok Sabha member from Srinagar Farooq Abdullah has tested positive for COVID-19, his son Omar Abdullah said on Tuesday.

Omar urged everyone who came in contact with his father recently to get tested.

"My father has tested positive for COVID-19 & is showing some symptoms," Omar, who is also vice president of the party, said in a tweet.

India: 2 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Shopian district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Shopian, 30 March  2021: 2 Kashmiris have been killed on Saturday by Indian security forces in Wangam of Shopian district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

The separatists killed have been identified as Inatullah Sheik and Adil Malik.

India: Govt trying to dismantle PDP: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Mar 26 (PTI) PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday accused the Centre of trying to dismantle her party by luring and threatening its members.

Her remarks come a day after she was grilled for five hours by the Enforcement Directorate at its Srinagar office in connection with a money laundering case.

Asia's largest tulip garden in Kashmir opens for public

Srinagar, Mar 25 (PTI) Asia's largest tulip garden overlooking the famous Dal Lake here in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir was thrown open to the public on Thursday, marking the beginning of the new tourism season in the valley.

Formerly known as Siraj Bagh, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden was opened in 2008 by then chief minister of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state Ghulam Nabi Azad.

India: Congress has become weak: Farooq Abdullah

Jammu, Mar 23 (PTI) Congress leaders need to stand up to the challenges being faced by the country and look into the problems of the people instead of "staying at their homes", National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) function here, he also said that the Congress has become "weak".

India: Jaish commander killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar, Mar 15 (PTI) In a major breakthrough, security forces killed Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Vilayat Hussain Lone in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday, taking the death toll of the ultras in the three-day operation to two.

Lone -- alias Sajjad Afghani, who was one of the most-wanted militants in Kashmir -- was killed in a fresh exchange of fire with security forces in Rawalpora area where an anti-militancy operation was launched on Saturday, police said.

India: College teacher in Kashmir in Udhampur booked under UAPA

Jammu, Mar 7 (PTI) A college teacher in Udhampur was arrested and booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for allegedly instigating and disturbing law and order in Kashmir valley, an official said on Sunday.

A police team from Kulgam district of south Kashmir arrested Shabir Ahmed from a college in Udhampur district on Saturday, they said.
