India: Omar, his family put under house arrest in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 14 (PTI) National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Sunday claimed he and his family, including his father and Member of Parliament Farooq Abdullah, have been put under house arrest by authorities.

However, police said the movement of protected persons was "discouraged" on Sunday due to adverse inputs on the second anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama attack.

India: Former BJP leader joins JKAP in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 8 (PTI) Former state vice president of BJP Danish Iqbal joined the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) here on Monday, a party spokesperson said.

Iqbal, who contested the recent District Development council (DDC) elections as an independent candidate from Banihal, was welcomed into the party fold along with many of his supporters by former minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir, the spokesperson said.

Iqbal said he and his supporters have joined the Apni Party with great hope that it will address their problems in the backward area.

India: Abducted Jammu girl rescued from Bihar

Jammu, Feb 7 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped about 20 days ago here was rescued in Bihar from the clutches of her abductor who was arrested, police said on Sunday.

Sunil Thakur, a resident of Khagaria district of Bihar, had allegedly abducted the girl and taken her to his home state on January 19, a police spokesperson said.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the girl's father, the police constituted a special team which finally recovered the girl from Bihar and also arrested her abductor, the spokesperson said.

India: 4G connectivity restored in J&K after US State Dep expressed concern

Delhi; 07 Feb 2021 (UMMN): 4G connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir was restored within hours after the US State Department expressed concern over the Indian government denying access to the internet to its own citizens.

"4G mobile internet services being restored in entire J&K," tweeted Jammu and Kashmir administration spokesperson Rohit Kansal.

India: 6 Kashmiri separatists held by Indian Sec Forces in Indian Administered Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, 30 Jan 2021: 3 Kashmiri separatists were arrested on Saturday by Indian security forces in the Indian Administered part of Jammu & Kashmir region.

According to Indian news outlets, Indian Security forces claimed that separatists were planning ‘attacks’ in Anantnag and Bijbehara towns of J&K.

India: Pilot of crash-landed Dhruv chopper killed, co-pilot critical

Jammu, Jan 26 (PTI) The condition of a co-pilot continues be critical on Tuesday after a Dhruv helicopter crash-landed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district the previous day, officials said.

A pilot was killed after the Indian Army's advanced light helicopter, which was coming from Pathankot, made a crash-landing in Basholi belt, police had said.

The co-pilot, Captain Anjani Kumar Singh, is still critical, a Northern Command spokesperson said.

India, China hold military talks on disengagement of troops

New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) The ninth round of military talks between India and China lasted for nearly 16 hours as the two sides held detailed deliberations on disengagement of troops from all friction points in eastern Ladakh, sources said on Monday.

The Corps Commander-level talks began at around 10:30 am on Sunday and ended at 2:30 am on Monday, they said.

India: Army officer shoots himself dead in J-K

Srinagar, Jan 18 (PTI) An Army officer allegedly shot himself dead at a forward post in Tangdhar sector along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Major Fayazullah Khan, a company commander of 6 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, they said.

The officials said the reason behind the officer taking such an extreme step was not immediately known.

India: BJP's vote share down by 25 pc in DCC polls in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 11 (PTI) The Congress on Monday claimed that the BJP's vote share in the District Development Council (DDC) polls declined by around 25 per cent in Jammu region as compared to the last Lok Sabha elections.

Jammu and Kashmir Congress in-charge Rajni Patil alleged that the BJP made every attempt to polarise the election atmosphere for vested political interests but the Congress is a unifying force and would not compromise on its inclusive policies for the sake of political interests.

India: Two arrested for raping a minor in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 11 (PTI) Two men were arrested here on Monday for allegedly raping a minor girl, police said.

Jammu residents Balbir Kumar and Rahul Kumar were arrested on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother with Arnia police station, they said.

The girl's mother alleged in her complaint on Sunday that the two men raped her daughter after kidnapping her, said police.

On the girl's mother complaint, the victim was medically examined and an FIR was lodged against the two accused.
