India returns captured PLA soldier to China

New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI) The Indian Army on Monday handed back to China a soldier of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), three days after apprehending him at the southern bank of Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh, official sources said.

The soldier was returned to China at the Chushul-Moldo border point in eastern Ladakh at 10.10 am, they added.

The Chinese soldier was captured at the southern bank of Pangong lake in the early hours of Friday after he transgressed across the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

New Delhi, Jan 9 (PTI) A Chinese soldier was apprehended by Indian troops from an area south of the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh in the early hours of January 8, official sources said on Saturday.

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldier had transgressed into the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control and was taken into custody by Indian troops deployed in the area, they said.

Srinagar, Jan 7 (PTI) PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said while New Delhi was "preaching" other countries to treat minorities in a dignified way, the plight of minorities in India was getting worse.

Mufti was referring to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's statement during his visit to Sri Lanka.

Kashmir: Mehbooba seeks impartial probe into Parimpora encounter

Srinagar, Jan 1 (PTI) PDP president Mehbooba Mufti sought on Friday an impartial investigation into the killing of three youths in an alleged fake encounter here two days ago and demanded that the bodies be returned to their families.

In a letter to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Mufti said such incidents brought "disrepute" to the armed forces and are "a grave violation" of human rights.

India: 166 Kashmiris among 203 separatists killed by Indian Sec Forces in Indian Administered Kashmir in 2020

Jammu, 29 Dec 2020: A total of 203 Kashmiri separatists, including 166 locals, were killed by Indian security forces in the Indian Administered Kashmir in the year in 2020, Indian official sources said. Apart from that 43 civilians were killed and 92 others injured by Indian security forces.

India: Mehbooba alleges Centre disrespecting Constitution

Srinagar, Dec 29 (PTI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday asserted that the Gupkar alliance was striving to achieve the restoration of special status of Jammu and Kashmir "within the Constitution of the country".

She also criticised the BJP-led central government over the three agri laws which have triggered protests by a section of farmers.

Srinagar, Dec 22 (PTI) PDP youth president Waheed Para, who is in custody of the National Investigation Agency for alleged links with militants, on Tuesday won the District Development Council (DDC) elections from Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Para defeated BJP candidate Sajad Ahmad Raina.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said she was proud of her party's youth leader to register a win.
