KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Ministry of Trade and Industry (MITI) has concluded a successful trade and investment mission to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a renewed commitment from both countries to escalate the unique and special relations with Malaysia to a higher and more strategic level, particularly in the sphere of trade and investment.

Led by Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, the mission took place from April 26 to May 4, 2021.

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 4 (NNN-Bernama) — The allegations that the vaccination rate in Malaysia is slow and low are not true as the vaccination jabs are done according to the supply delivery schedule, said National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said that the country had, so far, received a total of 1,938,660 doses of the Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines, of which 1,453,382 doses had been inoculated.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia Airlines Berhad on Monday stressed that its flights mounted between May 1 and 3 from India did not carry any passengers other than the flight crew who remained on board during transit.

As a further precaution, the airline also did not allow any ground maintenance personnel in India to enter its aircraft, it said in a statement.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian King Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Friday expressed concern over the continuous upward trend in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, which has now reached over 3,000 positive cases daily.

TANGKAK (Johor, Malaysia) April 27 (NNN-Bernama) — The government’s decision to bar travellers from India from entering into the country is not discriminatory or racist, instead it is to curb the spread of a new COVID-19 variant, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the decision was taken at the special National Security Council (MKN) meeting he chaired Monday.

“Yesterday, we made a decision, we bar or ban, don’t allow people coming from India (to enter). This is not about racism or discrimination.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia has secured committed investment of RM8.9 billion for 2021 from the recently concluded trade and investment mission (TIM) to South Korea and Japan, which was led by Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The TIM was held from March 31 to April 6, 2021.

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysia’s Court of Appeal on Monday began hearing a bid by former Prime Minister Najib Razak to set aside his conviction on corruption charges in a case linked to a multi-billion dollar scandal at state fund 1MDB.

Najib, who was voted out in a historic 2018 election, faces several trials over allegations that $4.5 billion was stolen from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a state fund he co-founded in 2009. He has plead not guilty to all charges.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (NNN-Bernama) — A total of 215,395 individuals in the first phase of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme have completed receiving both doses of their vaccine shots as of Wednesday.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said 482,808 individuals had received the first dose during the same period, bringing the total number of doses administered so far to 698,203.
