Malaysia Supports Any Reconciliation Effort To End Political Crisis In Myanmar — FM Hishammuddin

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia will support any effort to reconcile the differences among Myanmar’s leaders to avoid adverse consequences to the people and the state of Myanmar, said Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

Hishammuddin said Malaysia also called for the prompt and unconditional release of detained political leaders in Myanmar, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Win Myint and their associates, and encouraged dialogue between parties concerned.

PUTRAJAYA, March 1 (NNN-Bernama) — The Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had to take bold and proactive measures in order to protect lives and livelihoods the past one year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Muhyiddin Yassin.

The prime minister said while the government enforced the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of the virus, it also implemented various economic stimulus packages worth RM305 billion to ease the people’s burden and ensure business continuity.

Malaysia: Special Team Set Up To Coordinate Process Of Receiving Covid-19 Vaccine In Malaysia – Maskargo

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 20 (NNN-Bernama) — MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) has formed a special team specially for the coordination process in receiving Malaysia’s COVID-19 vaccine supply, said its chief operations officer Mohd Zulkefly Ujang.

He said the team set up two months ago comprises 30 members who have expertise in vaccine management.

“The team will manage the vaccine when the shipment arrives here this Sunday as well in the following phases. The members have been given adequate training,” he told Bernama.

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 17 (NNN-Bernama) — Prime Minister Muhyiddin’s decision to be the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is to boost public confidence over its safety and effectiveness.

Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said a risk assessment had also found that Muhyiddin’s duties as head of government and as a politician exposed him to the risk of being infected with COVID-19.

Malaysian FM On Official Visit To Abu Dhabi

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein is on a working visit to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement Monday, said Hishammuddin is scheduled to hold a meeting Monday night with his UAE counterpart on bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern of both countries.

Registration for COVID-19 Vaccination to Be Opened Soon – Malaysian Health Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 (NNN-Bernama) — Registration for the COVID-19 vaccination for Malaysians will be opened soon, said Health Minister Dr Adham Baba.

However, he did not say when actually the registration would be opened, but that Malaysians would receive two doses of COVID-19 vaccine for full protection against the virus.

“Those who receive the vaccine will have to keep the card that will be given to them when they are given the first injection.

Malaysia: IATA Reiterates Call on Flexible Policies from Governments On Air Travel

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) — The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has renewed the industry’s call on governments to deploy more flexible policies to safely reopen borders using testing rather than to rely on quarantine measures.

Director-general and chief executive officer Alexandre de Juniac said scientifically, travellers would not be a significant factor in community transmission if testing is used effectively.

Malaysia under virus emergency in reprieve for embattled PM

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 12 (AP-PTI) Malaysia's king on Tuesday approved a coronavirus emergency that will suspend parliament at least until August and halt any bids to seek a general election in a political reprieve for embattled Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin assured citizens in a televised speech that the emergency was not a military coup and curfew will not be enforced. He said his civilian government will remain in charge during the emergency, that will last until August 1 or earlier depending on the situation.

Malaysia: AIBC Calls For Immediate Review of ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (NNN-Bernama) — The ASEAN India Business Council (AIBC) has called for the immediate review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement which was signed and came into force in 2010, said AIBC co-chairman Ramesh Kodammal.

He said this matter was raised when the AIBC delegation paid a courtesy call on Senior Minister cum Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mohamed Azmin Ali last Thursday (Jan 7) at his office in Putrajaya, the Malaysia’s federal administrative capital.
