India: Gehlot attacks Modi govt over rising fuel prices

Jaipur, Feb 20 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said fuel prices have been increasing for 11 days and the common man is suffering as a result of "wrong" economic policies of the Centre.

In a series of tweets, Gehlot targeted the Centre and cleared his stand on the rumours that Rajasthan levies highest tax on fuel prices.

India: Farmers group AIKS to hold mahapanchyats in Rajasthan next week

Jaipur, Feb 20 (PTI) The All India Kisan Sabha will hold several kisan mahapanchayats in Rajasthan next week under the leadership of farmer leaders, including Rakesh Tikait.

The kisan mahapanchayats will be held in the state from February 22 to 26 and the first one will take place in Nohar in Hanumangarh district on February 22, the Kisan Sabha spokesperson said.

India: Alwar lynching case: Final hearing on March 6

Jaipur, Feb 15 (PTI) An Alwar court will hold the final hearing on March 6 in the case of alleged lynching of a youth on the suspicion of cow smuggling in the state over two years ago.

Rakbar, a resident of Haryana, was mercilessly beaten up in Rajasthan's Alwar on July 20, 2018, after which he died at a hospital.

His mother Habiban had sought the transfer of the case to a different court last week, which was rejected by the court, petitioner's counsel Qasim Khan said.

India: Petrol crosses Rs 99/litre, diesel at Rs 91

New Delhi, Feb 14 (PTI) Petrol price crossed the Rs 99 a litre mark in Rajasthan on Sunday while diesel topped Rs 91 after rates were increased for the sixth day in a row.

Petrol price was increased by 29 paise per litre and diesel by 32 paise, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

India: BJP MLA booked for rape in Rajasthan

Udaipur, Feb 5 (PTI) A BJP MLA in Rajasthan's Udaipur has been booked for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage.

The FIR against Gogunda MLA Pratap Lal Bheel (52) was registered at Sukher Police Station on Thursday.

The medical examination of the victim, who is aged around 35 years, was conducted and statements were recorded yesterday (Thursday), SP Udaipur Rajeev Pachar said.

The case was referred to the CID for investigation, he added.

India: Man lynched in Rajasthan's Alwar

Jaipur, Jan 31 (PTI) A middle-aged man was allegedly beaten to death by four persons in Alwar district of Rajasthan, police said on Sunday.

It said some villagers claimed that Deen Mohammad, aged around 50, was attacked after he was caught while sneaking into a house on Saturday night to "steal a cow", but the initial investigation does not corroborate it.

India: PM Modi should talk to protesting farmers: Gehlot

Jaipur, Jan 30 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take the initiative to talk to the agitating farmers and it should not be a matter of prestige as decisions are changed many times in a democracy.

Gehlot also sought a judicial inquiry into the January 26 violence in Delhi and said agitations continuing for a long time is not in the interest of the nation.

India: Rajasthan woman raped by three men

Jaipur, Jan 26 (PTI) A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men in Nagaur district of Rajasthan and a bottle was inserted inside her private parts, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on January 19 when the woman had gone to a nearby farm.

In her police complaint, the woman has alleged that the accused inserted a bottle inside her private parts when she resisted rape attempts by them.

The accused threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident, SHO Parbatsar Rupram said.

India: 13-year-old from Bihar 'sold' twice for marriage in Raj

Kota (Raj), Jan 18 (PTI) A 13 year-old-girl from Bihar was allegedly "sold" twice for marriage within 17 days, following which police have arrested five people on charges of human trafficking, including her mother.

The arrested also include the two men who allegedly paid Rs one lakh and Rs 1.21 lakh, while three others are yet to be nabbed.

India: Interfaith marriage triggers row in Rajasthan

Bikaner, Jan 17 (PTI) An interfaith marriage here has led the Hindu woman's family to allege the alliance to be a case of love jihad, prompting a Union minister to demand a law in Rajasthan against the alleged practice of marriage for religious conversion.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary demanded the law in the state despite the girl in a video statement on social media and to the police asserting that she married on her own accord and police too rejecting the allegation.
