India: Raj Waqf Board to open 15 petrol pumps on its properties

Jaipur, Dec 7 (PTI) The Rajasthan Waqf Board has decided to open 15 petrol pumps on its properties across the state to generate additional income and employment opportunities for the youth.

Khanu Khan, chairman of the board, said petrol pumps will be opened at 15 prime locations in different cities following agreement with oil companies.

India: Farmers' protests gain momentum in Rajasthan

Jaipur/Kota, Dec 3 (PTI) Protests against the Centre's new farm laws gained momentum in Rajasthan on Thursday as farmer organisations blocked roads and held demonstrations and rallies in solidarity with thousands gathered at the national capital's borders as part of their 'Delhi Chalo' march.

A group of farmers, under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti, held a protest at Jaipur's Surajpole mandi and blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway for nearly an hour to demand a repeal of the laws.

India: BJP trying to destabilise my govt: Gehlot

Jaipur, Nov 27 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday accused the BJP of trying to destabilise his government by resorting to negative politics by speculating on its fall and stoking fears about coronavirus pandemic.

Asserting that the BJP leaders' speculations on behalf of their central leadership reveal their anti-democratic moorings, the chief minister expressed faith in the people of Rajasthan, saying they would accept no "unethical" practices and reply to the BJP's efforts to take political mileage.

India: 4-yr-old girl raped in Rajasthan's Pali

Jaipur, Nov 26 (PTI) A four-year-old girl attending a wedding ceremony in a village in Rajasthan's Pali district was allegedly lured to a deserted field and raped by a 26-year-old man, police said on Thursday.

The incident happened in Sadavas village under the Sadar police station limits on Wednesday, they said.

The minor victim had gone with her family to attend a wedding ceremony. Finding her alone, the accused lured the girl to a field and allegedly raped her, SHO Bhanwarlal said.

India: Man rapes friend's mother in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Nov 24 (PTI) In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old man allegedly raped his friend's mother in Alwar district of Rajasthan, police said on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old victim was alone in her house when the accused committed the crime on Sunday, Sunil Jangid, SHO, Shahjahanpur (Bhiwadi) said.

The accused, Vikas Jat, used to visit his friend's house frequently. His friend had gone to attend a function when he went to his house and allegedly raped his mother, he said.

The accused was arrested on Monday, the SHO added.

India: Man jailed for 20 years for raping minor

Kota (Raj), Nov 19 (PTI) A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail here for raping a minor girl over two years ago.

Additional Sessions Judge Hanuman Prasad, heading the special POCSO court, on Wednesday also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on convict Ajay Meghwal, a resident of Gumanpura area in the city.

The court, set up under the provisions of the Protection of Children against the Sexual Offences Act, convicted Meghwal on the basis of depositions by at least 17 witnesses during the trial, said Public Prosecutor Suresh Verma.

India: VHP to raise funds for Ram temple

Jaipur, Nov 10 (PTI) The Vishva Hindu Parishad will raise money from across the country for the Ram temple being built in Ayodhya.

According to a release, the organisation will mobilise financial support through a door-to-door campaign in four lakh villages across the country.

VHP working president Alok Kumar held a discussion with Sarkaryavah Suresh Bhayyaji Joshi of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to decide the outline of the campaign on Tuesday.

India: Raj govt to ban sale of fireworks during the festive season

Jaipur, Nov 1 (PTI) The Rajasthan government has decided to ban the sale of firecrackers during the festive season in the state in the wake of the crisis created by the coronavirus pandemic.

Protecting the lives of people is paramount for the government in this challenging time, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said while reviewing the coronavirus situation on Sunday.

He also said the government has decided to keep the schools and colleges in the state closed till November 16.

India: Rajasthan to make wearing of masks compulsory

Jaipur, Nov 2 (PTI) Rajasthan will be the first state in the country to enact a law making it compulsory to wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Monday.

The law will be enacted on Monday, he said in a tweet, describing mask as a "vaccine" to protect against coronavirus.

An amendment bill was introduced in the Assembly on Saturday to make it mandatory to wear masks while using public and private transport as well as for attending political and social programmes.

India: Gehlot slams Nadda's statement on CAA

Jaipur, Oct 21 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday termed as "most unfortunate" BJP President JP Nadda's statement on implementation of CAA.

Nadda had on Monday said the execution of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and asserted that the law would be implemented soon.
