India: Garbage dumped in front of Hathras DM's home in Raj

Jaipur, Oct 2 (PTI) Some unidentified people dumped a pile of garbage in front of Hathras district magistrate's Jaipur home on Friday, police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Raisingh Beniwal said information was being gathered about the incident and efforts were made to identify the miscreants.

India: Woman accuses father of raping her for 10 yrs

Kota (Raj) Sep 25 (PTI) A 23-year-old woman here has accused her father of repeatedly raping her for the last 10 years, police said on Friday.

In a complaint to Bhemganjmandi police station sent by post on Thursday, the woman has accused the father, an employee with the Indian Railways, of repeatedly raping her at home and at places where he was posted, they said.

She also has alleged that her father attempted to sexually harass her younger sister on a number of occasions, a police official said.

India: Suspension of 8 MPs symbol of dictatorship

Jaipur, Sep 21 (PTI) Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on Monday said the centre has passed "anti-farmer" bills in the Rajya Sabha by suppressing the voice of the opposition but the Congress is standing with farmers and will continue their fight.

Condemning the suspension of eight Rajya Sabha MPs, the Congress leader said it was symbolic of dictatorship.

"After passing the bills in the Rajya Sabha in an undemocratic manner, the decision to suspend 8 Rajya Sabha MPs today is a symbol of utter dictatorship," Pilot tweeted in Hindi.

India: 45-yr-old woman gangraped in Alwar; 3 held

Jaipur, Sep 19 (PTI) A 45-year old woman was allegedly gangraped in front of her nephew who was also forced to sexually assault her in Rajasthan's Alwar district, police said on Saturday.

The accused also shot a video of the incident and circulated it following which an FIR was registered, they said.

According to police, six to seven people were involved in the crime and they have arrested two and detained one.

India: R'than govt enhances benefits under welfare scheme for journalists

Jaipur, Sep 12 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday decided to enhance the benefits given under the welfare schemes for journalists in the state, a statement said.

In a review meeting of the department of Information and Public Relations, the chief minister approved the increase in the assistance amount for journalists from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh in case of serious illness, it said.

India: 1 held for transferring funds to man spying for Pakistan

Jaipur, Sep 9 (PTI) Intelligence officials on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly transferring funds to a spy who was passing confidential information to his Pakistani handler.

The officials arrested Aditya Singh of Agra who had transferred funds to one Mushtaq Ali through a mobile payment app.

Ali was earlier arrested under espionage charges.

Singh had deposited Rs 10,000 in e-wallet of Ali in February 2019, the intelligence officials said.

India: Centre has no roadmap to revive country's economy: Pilot

Jaipur, Sep 3 (PTI) Expressing concern over the state of economy, former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot claimed on Thursday that the Centre does not have a roadmap to revive the country's economy.

He said several months have passed but so far, only announcements of incentives have been made by the Union finance minister.

India: Special efforts needed to bring minorities into mainstream of development: Raj CM

Jaipur, Aug 31 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday said special efforts are needed to bring the minorities into the mainstream of development as it is necessary that people of all classes come together to win the fight against poverty.

He said India is a bouquet of people of different castes, religions and languages for which people have to work together to strengthen it.

The chief minister inaugurated eight buildings of Minority Affairs and Waqf Department in various districts of the state.

India: Gehlot govt wins trust vote

Jaipur, Aug 14 (PTI) The Ashok Gehlot government won a confidence vote in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday, ending the threat triggered by a rebellion within the Congress ranks in the state.

The motion of confidence moved by the Congress government was passed by voice vote, an expected win after the return of the 19 dissident MLAs led by Sachin Pilot to the party-fold.

Replying to the debate on the motion, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticised the BJP, accusing it again of trying to bring down his government.
