India: Woman hacked to death by husband in Raj

Jaipur, May 31 (PTI) A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her husband in Rajasthan's Banswara district on Sunday night, police said.

The accused, Shaymlal, is absconding, SHO, Arthuna police station, Gajveer Singh said.

"Shaymlal hit his wife Alka, aged around 23 years, with an axe leaving her dead on the spot. The couple had a minor son," he said.

"The reason behind the murder is not clear and the matter is being probed. The postmortem of the body is being conducted," the SHO added.

India: Woman gang-raped in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 31 (PTI) A woman was allegedly raped by three men when she stepped out of her house to attend nature's call in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on May 24, they said.

The victim, who is married, had gone out with her sister to attend nature's call. The main accused, Devekaran Gurjar, and two others threatened to kill her, forcibly took her to a secluded place on a tractor and raped her there, Station House Officer (SHO), Makrana, Roshan Lal Samaria said.

India: Newborn girl found abandoned in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 29 (PTI) A newborn girl was found abandoned behind a health sub-centre in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district on Saturday, police said.

A nurse heard the cries of the baby and found her lying near bushes behind the sub-centre in the district's Dhoriya village, they said.

The nurse took the baby to the health centre. The girl is healthy, the police said.

Efforts are being made to identify and trace her mother, they said.

India: Rajasthan CM dismisses BJP's charge of vaccine wastage

Jaipur, May 28 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday rubbished the allegations of the BJP that 11.5 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccines in the state have been wasted.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to do politics by spreading lies and bringing down the morale of frontline workers.

India: Rajasthan High Court rejects Asaram's bail plea

Jodhpur, May 21 (PTI) Self-styled godman Asaram's plea for interim bail to pursue medical treatment through Ayurveda in Haridwar was rejected by the Rajasthan High Court on Friday.

The court's rejection came after perusal of the rape convict's medical report submitted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jodhpur. Asaram was admitted to the facility after contracting COVID-19.

India: Rajasthan's Jhalawar gets oxygen plant donated by UK

Kota (Rajasthan) May (PTI) One of the three 18-tonne oxygen generation plants, sent by the UK to help India, has reached the district medical college in Rajasthan's Jhalawar.

The plant reached Jhalawar Medical College on Monday with assistance from a six-personnel squad of the eighth battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) that holds the responsibility of transportation and installation of the oxygen generator plants.

India: Doctor held for black marketing of Remdesivir

Jaipur, May 7 (PTI) Three people, including a doctor, were arrested here on Friday for alleged black marketing of Remdesivir injection in Jaipur , police said.

Dr Amit Kumar Sethi, incharge of primary health centre of Agrawal Farm, had allegedly given the injection to a ward boy of the government-run Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, identified as Abhijeet Sen, they said.

Another accused, Chutulal, was also involved with them in the black marketing, police said.

Sen was trying to sell two Remdesivir injections for Rs 60,000, they said.

India: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tests positive for coronavirus

Jaipur, Apr 29 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 69-year-old Congress leader had isolated himself on Wednesday after his wife Sunita had tested positive.

"My COVID-19 test report too came positive today. I have no symptoms, and I am feeling fine. I will continue working while in isolation, following COVID-19 protocols," the chief minister said in a tweet in Hindi.

India: Rajput leader dies of COVID-19

Jaiipur, Apr 29 (PTI) Rajput leader Giriraj Singh Lotwara died of COVID-19 here on Thursday, an organisation representing the community said.

Lotwara, who was around 60 years old, was admitted to the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences Hospital in Pratap Nagar, Rajput Sabha Bhawan said.

Lotwara was the president of the Shree Rajput Sabha.

Pradesh Congress Committee chief Govind Singh Dotasra and other leaders condoled the death of Lotwara.

India: Jobless man hangs self to death live on Fb

Kota Apr 20 (PTI) A 35-year-old man went live on a social media platform while committing suicide here allegedly out of joblessness, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday night when Manish Singh, a resident of Sakatpura colony under Kunhari police station in Kota, went live on Facebook while hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house, said Sub Inspector Laxman Lal Mehra of the police station.

It's all well, friends. Adieu! Now I leave, are the last words of the man, heard on the Facebook, the police official said.
