Russia: Attempts to solve Ukrainian crisis by force will trigger serious consequences - Kremlin

Peskov

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/: Attempts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis by force will trigger serious consequences, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Sunday.

"Ukraine is most likely seeking another attempt to start solving its own problem by force, creating another disaster for itself and for everyone in Europe," the Kremlin spokesman told the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

According to Peskov, Ukraine "is achieving this, most likely, under the cover of those NATO exercises, NATO ships in the Black Sea, American and British soldiers in the region, there are more and more of them." "This is what Ukraine is striving for. And this is heartbreaking since it will entail some serious consequences," Peskov insisted.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov does not exclude the attempted provocations so that to justify Western claims about the allegedly existing threat of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"This cannot be ruled out," the spokesman told.

According to Peskov, "this hysteria is being escalated artificially." "Those who have brought their armed forces overseas are accusing us of some unusual military activity on our territory. That is, the US. Well, this is not entirely logical and not entirely decent," the Kremlin spokesman noted.

The Ukrainian issue

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on November 10 that US Navy ships arrived in the Black Sea to take part in the US European Command’s multinational drills in the region. According to the ministry’s data, the US guided missile destroyer Porter, fleet replenishment oil tanker John Lenthall and command and staff ship Mount Whitney entered the Black Sea for the multinational exercise. On November 15, the Mount Whitney departed for the Mediterranean Sea, following the completion of the exercise. Russia’s Defense Ministry slammed these maneuvers as a destabilizing factor in the region intended to use Ukrainian territory for military goals. The Russian armed forces were closely watching the situation in the region, the ministry assured.

On November 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a Foreign Ministry enlarged board meeting that the Western countries’ actions in the Black Sea went beyond boundaries - strategic bombers flew at a distance of 20 km from our state border and carried quite serious weapons. The head of state also noted that the West’s actions that aggravated the situation could be seen not only in the Black Sea but also in other regions close to the Russian borders.
