Fire destroys Jim Beam warehouse, bourbon flows into river

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A fire destroyed a massive Jim Beam warehouse filled with about 45,000 barrels of aging bourbon in Kentucky, and state officials worried that runoff whiskey seeping into nearby waterways would kill fish.

Firefighters from four counties responded to the blaze that erupted late Tuesday. It sent flames shooting into the night sky and generated so much heat that firetruck lights melted.

A jury in Bowling Green, Kentucky, deliberated less than two hours before delivering the award to the Republican lawmaker who had been attacked while doing yard work at his Kentucky home.

Grocery store shooting leaves 2 dead; suspect in custody

JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. (AP) — A gunman fatally shot a man in the back of the head inside a Kroger and then killed a woman in the grocery store’s parking lot before exchanging gunfire with a bystander, police said. Officers then captured the suspect as he tried to flee.

Gregory Alan Bush, 51, was booked early Thursday on two counts of murder and 10 counts of felony wanton endangerment, according to Louisville Metro Department of Corrections records.
