Kanpur: Owing to the grave negligence of the municipal corporation, Jalkal, Jal Sansthan and Pollution Control Board, the Namami Gangey Project to make Ganga pure seems to be sabotaged here.
Drains in Sisamau, Parmat, Baba Ghat, Guptar Ghat, Paramiya Purwa and Nawabganj areas were shut down by spending a whopping Rs 63 crore way back in the year of 2018.
Recently, the Sisamau drain, was tracked and monitored by officials. They found that water from the drain was still being dumped into the Ganga.
It will be apt to mention here that his drain happens to be Asia's largest drain.
Inspecting the drain the Divisional Commissioner Dr Rajshekhar along with the officials said that we got reports of sewage overflow in the Ganga a week back.
A meeting of the government officials and the private company handling the cleaning of the River Ganga was called. A 24-hour deadline was given to them.
If the water continues to be dumped after the deadline, action will be taken against the people concerned.
An investigation will be done and a report will be sent to the government. The guilty officers and employees will not be spared and strict action will be taken, he added.
