SAN SALVADOR, Sept 11 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — El Salvador and Canada are seeking to boost Canadian tourism by signing an agreement to increase flights by Air Transat to this Central American country, industry sources reported.

A memorandum of understanding signed by Salvadorian Deputy Foreign Minister Adriana Mira with the airline’s executives seeks to promote the arrival of travelers from Canada to El Salvador’s market to which at least 70,000 Salvadoran residents in Canada will contribute.

The agreement will allow both parties to join efforts and take actions to increase the flow of visitors to the country from that destination to position El Salvador internationally, the sources added.

This also includes the actions we already started doing with Canada, as part of the implementation of the air agreement in force between the two countries, Mira said after signing the deal.

Speeding up tourism is one of the many strategies with which we are opening development opportunities. For this reason, it is essential that we have an open sky policy to attract more passengers and more holidaymakers to the country, she said.
