MANILA, May 18 (Xinhua): At least 29 passengers were injured when an oncoming train of the Light Rail Transit hit a parked train in one of its stations in Metro Manila of the Philippines late Saturday night, local media reported.
The collision happened between two stations of Light Rail Transit Line 2 in the western Metro Manila. A passenger told local media that they heard a loud thud causing the passengers to fall over themselves.
Quoting Lyn Paragas-Janeo, the Manila Light Rail Transit Authority spokesperson, local TV station GMA News said all the injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Some of the debris fell off the elevated track and landed on the road below, according to GMA News report.
The Manila Light Rail Transit Authority already issued a public advisory that the agency is coordinating with its control center and conducting an investigation into the collision.
The Light Rail Transit System Line 2, which started operations in 2003, is a rapid transit line in Metro Manila of the Philippines.
The Light Rail Transit System Line 2 serves 11 stations on 13.8 km of line.
