Kanpur: Fear of helmet checking among the two-wheeler scooterists was so severe as one scooty driver left her little daughter on the road during traffic checking drive on Motijheel crossing here on Friday night.
This drive was conducted in view of approaching festival. The SP(west) Sanjeev Suman, Circle Officer Ajit K Chauhan along with police forces were busy in conducting the checking drive. A woman on her scooty came near but she did not stop and sped up her vehicle out of fear. She was not putting on her helmet. In the course of this scramble, she forgot that her ten-year-old daughter had got down when she was stopped by the police.
As the girl was holding the mobile it was not possible to contact the woman. Afterwards, the police made contact with the gir's father. Twenty minutes later that woman wearing the helmet returned and took her daughter home.
People gathered on the spot reacted that fear of checking loomed large on the public mind. Even a mother left her child only because of fear of the huge punishment.
