Kanpur: A widowed woman was raped and thrashed by her brother-in-law on the streets of a locality here a few days ago.
According to the news reports, she approached the police station to file a complaint with the police but she was reported to have been pressurised to make a compromise.
It is after such an outcome she decided to approach a higher rank police officer under whose direction the complaint was registered instantly.
When she came to the house her brother in law beat her mercilessly; even his sisters cooperated in beating the victim whose husband had died due to coronavirus a few months ago. The police also registered a complaint against beating.
The victim had an eight-year-old son. The brother-in-law was said to have been keeping an eye over her.
The case is under investigation yet the DCP Sanjeev Tyagi has assured of complete action against the culprits.
